Belle agrees to go out with Shawn for dinner – nothing more.

In the show:
Belle accepted his invitation without stipulations.

Recap:

Shawn is confronted by Lani who wants to know if they’re still going out. Shawn comes clean with her and despite her jealousy and anger, she covers, saying she’s thrilled for Shawn.

In the show:
This discussion happened but I didn't see any confrontation, anger or thrill from Lani.

Recap:

Belle tells Philip the truth about her and Shawn. At first he’s a bit sarcastic, but then he offers his congrats, but like Lani, we see that he’s anything but happy. He begins to drink and comes on to a potential employee, and later a bartender at the Edge of the Square.

In the show:
Belle shows up just as the potential employee is leaving. Philip's sarcasm was because of her criticism about his Bloody Mary lunch. I guess "I really do want you to be happy" can also mean "congrats" but it didn't sound like it to me. Otherwise the recap is correct.

Recap:

Ciara manages to open up, and Marlena asks if Ciara will ever be able to move on with another man… (after what she went through). Ciara considers this and says only if it was the right guy. She begins to describe the kind of man she’d like to be with (and she paints a portrait of Chad).

In the show:
Marlena never asked about moving on. Possibly a cut because the two scenes seemed broken and rambling.

CIARA: Maybe I can never get serious with any normal guy.
End scene

CIARA: I feel like if I was older, I could've stopped him. An older guy wouldn't have been so desperate.

Recap:

Theo shows up at the house and finds Claire who is open and honest about the reality that Ciara might not be ready to pursue a relationship with Theo or anyone. Ciara returns and Theo lets her off the hook, but we can see he is heartbroken.

In the show:
Theo did not "let her off the hook."

Aiden invites Hope to lunch, but is denied. He realizes winning Hope back away from Rafe won’t be easy.

In the show:
They need to release these recaps BEFORE the show so we know we're supposed to get THAT from THIS, just because Rafe says so:
Aiden interrupts Hope and Rafe kissing, with lunch residue on the table. He explains he wanted to invite Hope to lunch to discuss their earlier conversation. Rafe says they just ate. Aiden apologizes and leaves. Rafe is upset and tells Hope that Aiden is not going to give up on her.

I'm really curious to the reasons behind the cuts and changes. I'm guessing that some of it is due to the change in writers and a new direction for some stories and characters.

Aiden doesn't break down. He starts to leave and Hope catches his hand, stopping him.

Kayla calls Steve, who’s hiding from Simone, and he’s almost caught, but manages to silence his phone. Kayla leaves a message.

In the show:
No scene with Steve hiding or silencing his phone during her call.

Recap:

Steve spots Joey’s backpack, pretends to leave, then sneaks back.

In the show:
Right after Kayla calls and leaves the message, Steve is checking the backpack when he hears Simone coming. He hides in the closet. His phone starts buzzing and he hurries to silence it, causing the phone to beep and Simone hears it.

Recap:

Chad passes out in a chair. Ciara covers him with a blanket, tenderly kisses her fingers and puts them to Chad’s lips. (Chad’s unaware.)

In the show:
Chad passes out sitting up on the couch. Ciara covers him with a blanket then daydreams about kissing him. No kiss with her fingers.

Rafe suggests Hope go somewhere to think. He holds her tight, then goes, leaving her more confused than ever.

In the show:
No hug. He kisses her on the cheek.

Recap:

As she packs, Kayla gets dizzy again, falls into Fynn’s arms.

In the show:
He holds her arm while she sits down on the bed.

I wonder if all the cut scenes actually were supposed to air? Remember, they took a month off because NBC doesn't want the show to film so far in advance. Maybe they're butchering the episodes as another way to close the gap. Rather than ruin the show, they should just take off another month or two from filming.

Recap:

Roman and Rafe question Nicole. Rafe lets it slip that it was Kate who was the witness and even recorded their fight… however, what she didn’t record was Nicole killing Deimos.

In the show:
Not Rafe. Roman flat out told her about the witness and video. Nobody mentioned Kate's name. Later, Rafe talks with Nicole, alone and "off the record." She guesses that the witness is Kate. She asks Rafe but he does not say or act like she's right.

Recap:

Before Kayla can go, Simone manages to get in a dig about her regarding Steve which throws Kayla into a rage. John pulls her out, and later gets her to see she needs to give Steve another chance.

In the show:
No rage in front of Simone. But Kayla was winding up until John stepped between and turned Kayla away. As they were leaving John said to Simone, "Trust me, you don't want any part of what's caged up inside of this woman." Outside, he waits quietly while Kayla has a little tantrum. Then they talk about her and Steve. John pleads Steve's case but whether or not he "gets her to see" is not clear.

Recap:

Kate calls Nicole out of the closet. The two women exchange accusations again, then when Kate heads for the closet, and Nicole tries to stop her, Kate realizes something’s in there and Dario steps out. Kate realizes Dario and Nicole are allies, warns him Nicole can be lethal.

In the show:
Kate does not realize anyone else is in the closet. She had called the police before telling Nicole to come out. When the doorbell rings and Kate tells Nicole it's the police, Dario comes out on his own. Kate doesn't warn Dario about Kate.

Jade tells Joey she wants to go back to Salem. He promises he’ll deal with his mom.

In the show:
Jade says she will deal with her parents. Joey doesn't say anything about his.

Recap:

Chad leaves to check on Thomas. Ciara has a fantasy of declaring her feelings to Chad, but when he returns, she can’t bring herself to tell him how she feels. He’s privately concerned she might have growing feelings for him.

In the show:
After Ciara has her fantasy and Chad returns, he suggests she go off to bed. She starts to leave then turns back to say something but just tells him goodnight then hurries off. Chad has a bemused look.

Recap:

John brings up the word “marriage” and Marlena doesn’t see the point. They are happy now, and every time they marry… they end up divorced.

In the show:
Marlena: Why ruin a good thing?
John: Oh, come on. You still think that making this thing real is gonna ruin it?
Marlena: Well, you know, we've talked about this before. So why don't we just leave well enough alone?

Thank you for going through and listing these, UhSir!

I'm wondering if some of what's happening here is that the person writing the recaps for NBC is doing it off the scripts, not finished episodes. So if they removed certain people from scenes for production reasons prior to shooting, or shuffled those scenes around, some stuff onscreen is different in execution but not really content-wise. It is weird, though. It's like the acting and directing often don't express exactly what the writers want them to!

mikey , I was curious about that too. When I was watching Stargate SG-1 there were obvious differences between writers to directors. It was always an interpretation thing. Certain writers/directors favored certain pairings. Even the actors played for or against, based on what they believed was right for their character. I was wondering if that's what is happening here lately with the recaps. There were other differences that I didn't post because they were close but just a bit off, so not worth posting about.
