I've started up a new 'history project' over on my blog that I thought might be of interest to some folks here. I'm going back through the 50-year history of Days and, using yearly summaries, rewriting it so that no characters are ever rapidly aged, thus preserving the timeline. Here's how I explain it in the introduction: Part 1 can be found here, and I'll be adding the next decade pretty soon.

mikey - this is such an amazing, complicated project that I can barely wrap my brain around it. You are a brave man to take it on. Good luck and godspeed.

Part 2 is up! I tackled the 1980s all in one burst, which means we get to deal with Hope, Melissa, Jen, and Julie having a grown-up grandson...

mikey - what an interesting project! I am really enjoying looking back at what was and what might have been. The 70s and some of the 80s were my favorite years.

Part 3 covers 1990-95. This is where things start to get pretty messy -- like how do we deal with the Carrie/Sami rivalry when Sami should still be in grade school? The solution results in a beloved legacy character having a very different personality...
