I like puffed pastry. I even made it from scratch twice. You can do cool things with it.

We open our gifts in the evening on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning the girls will have gifts from Santa. There will be more to open at grandma and grandpa's houses.
Growing up we always had our big celebration on Christmas Eve.

Christmas eve party was great. Everything came out perfectly. Even my husband who is a much better and more organized cook than I am complimented me on pulling everything off and getting it out hot and tasty.
This evening, I've been undecorating the tree and mantle. This is the earliest I've ever started doing that. Ever notice that once the presents are gone from under the tree, it starts to look shabby? I still have more to do, but the bulk is done. My goal is to consolidate decorations into Rubbermaid tubs and have an empty tub leftover so I can organize wrapping paper, greeting cards and gift bags and bows. Right now, it's a mess.

I know I am a little late, but I just discovered this thread so I guess I will share how my family celebrates Christmas. We spend Christmas Eve at the home of my sister her husband and two kids, and we exchange the gifts we get for each other. We also have a Christmas Eve Dinner which is usually posole and tamales, and of course there is a big desert table with all the goodies made. Then me and my husband and kids go to Midnight Mass, and we take my parents with us. My sister and her family don't come along becasue they are not Catholic, my brother also does not come along because he is not religious. On Christmas morning my kids open the presents they received from me and my husband, and then around 10:30 a.m. we go to my parents house for a Christmas brunch. I host Christmas Dinner which I usually do a Turkey and Ham and all the trimmings, but this year I decided to try something different. I made a prime rib roast and lamb chops with scalloped potatoes, corn casserole, and creamed spinach. For desert a made a cake which was one layer red velvet and one layer green velvet with cream cheese frosting, it looked very Christmasy. After my parents, sister and her family, and brother left me and my husband watched a bunch of Christmas Movies with the kids.

You had a lot of fun celebrations villa281. We only had gifts under the tree for 3 or 4 days. The girls like to play with the Fisher Price Nativity set under the tree.

Your celebrations sound so nice villa281. Your description of Christmas dinner made me hungry. Lamb chops are my favorite.

Christmas Eve was our family celebration - we do a grab bag type gift. You pick a gift and then the next person can steal or open a present. My first pick was beer from one of my nephews. Thankfully, someone stole that and I got another gift which was all girlie stuff. My sis-in-law is a great cook - steak, lasagna, sausage, baked potatoes, salads and cheesecake, carrot cake and chocolate pie.
Christmas morning we had breakfast with my sister. Egg casserole, fruit and bagels. She gave me a bottle of chocolate wine which I am sampling even as we speak. It is like Baileys - I can't taste any wine.
Christmas afternoon I did a pot roast dinner for hubby and me. It was good except my gravy will never be as good as my mother's. We talked about planning trips, shows, etc for 2016. No decisions yet but lots of ideas.
