Well, I've stopped watching, but it's not been by choice. I've been training a new girl and FINALLY got to start at my new job today. By the time it comes on at night, I just can't stay awake long enough to watch. I don't have DVR but I guess that may be a good thing. If I had the time, I would still watch. Instead, I come here to get the lastest and just make do with that.

LOL! I stopped watching from about 1996-2010. Marlena's possesion just sent me over the edge. I missed the whole teen thing (which I'm not too sorry about - great as it was) but I still flipped through Soap Opera Digest while waiting to check out at the grocery store.
I will freely admit it was EJ that brought me back, and his hotness doth sustain me.
No matter what happens though, I'll never stop wondering what's going on in Salem. And even after the show goes off the air, I'll probably read the fanfic as if it were the actual show. Heck, I might even be forced to create a few myself.

@dd- I had nightmares during the possession storyline. Maybe it's a Catholic thing but possession freaks me out and I can't watch the Omen either.

I was just too hookey for me. I always thought of soaps as over-dramatic, but that whole thing was just silly. But I can see why it would give you nightmares. I'm not big on super scary stuff either.

I'm a very temporary tranplant from CMT. I stopped watching when DOOL split up Daniel and Chelsea and backed out of putting them back together again.

I stopped watching in Summer 2010 because I simply could not watch one more second of Philip/Mel or Stephanie/Nathan. I absolutely hated those two pairings. In December 2010, I started keeping track again via recaps, spoilers and boards. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Marlena, John, Jack, Carrie and Austin and seeing the Horton Town Square dedication. I will definitely be DVRing and watching starting September 26, 2011. Can't wait! I'm also very curious to see Eric/Brady and Sarah/Madison in scenes together.

Let's see, I stopped watching about a month ago The show's been going downhill for me since 2008 because they really started to give one of my two favorites (Bryan Dattilo, the other Alison Sweeney) some pretty crappy writing. I hung in there though hoping that eventually things would get better, even after BD was let go from the show. Fast forward to July 2011...Dena's writing just got to a point where more than half the stuff being written wasn't even believable. The story lines were not convincing, not to mention it was BORING. Big changes are coming up, that's great for those still watching, hope you enjoy them. But I'm content with just reading about it

^^ I've always said it is a lot easier to hold on to viewers in the first place than to win them back once you finally drive them away. That's how I feel. I watched Days for decades and it was a LONG time coming before I finally gave up.... but now that I did, I can't say I'm in a big rush to return. I would like for the show to give me a reason to tune in again but it would've taken a lot less effort to have kept me as a viewer in the first place.

But then all the big stories ended and the new ones they came up with were duds. They didn't even do aftermaths to the stories that had been building for the past year (carbo/Bope - danloe/Phelanie - bricole) Stuff just ended. That's not how you do it. The after is part of the story as well. They had me hooked right up until then.
