Chapter 15
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER'S OFFICE AT NBC STUDIOS – BURBANK, CALIFORNIA
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from
Kpatch): Don't bring Molly into this.
THERESA: I'm sorry, who are we talking about, again?
BRADY: Yeah, who's Molly?
DIEDRE: Molly Burnett. The actress who played Melanie on Days of Our Lives from 2008 to 2012, and came back for a few months in late 2014/earlier this year.
THERESA: Oh...that Molly.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Diedre, my dear, dear Diedre, there's no need to bring Molly into this.
DIEDRE: She saw so much potential in you.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Yeah, right. Then again, even if you wanted to, you couldn't bring Molly into this. She's busy making a big name for herself.
KIRSTEN; How do you know that?
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): I...keep tabs on her, let's say.
The moment was interrupted as the door opened. In walked Shawn-D, Belle, Philip, Jay and Michelle.
SHAWN-D: Hey, guys.
PHILIP: Hope we're not late for the party.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Philip, you're here early. I didn't expect you until next week.
JAY: Well, some rather important business came to my attention, and I had to come as soon as I could. And, I'm Jay. Not Philip.
PHILIP: I'm Philip, though.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Whatever. This is all getting a bit sci-fi for me. We didn't get Reilly back, did we?
DIEDRE: Um, he's dead, actually. May he rest in peace.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Like I said, I try not to get involved in my people's personal lives.
Michelle walked over to where Theresa and Brady were standing.
MICHELLE: Hi.
THERESA: Hi.
MICHELLE: You're Theresa Donovan.
THERESA: Yeah. Who are you?
MICHELLE: I'm Michelle. I watch Days. And, I love you!
THERESA: Thanks.
MICHELLE: Seriously, you are my favorite character ever!
THERESA: Really? But, why? I do terrible things.
MICHELLE: Oh, I know. But, I think somewhere deep down, you're a good person. Even if you don't know that yet.
THERESA: Thanks.
BELLE: So, what did we miss.
BRADY: Mr. Dorkay over here says that he can't help us.
SHAWN-D: Why not?
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Everything has to end sometime. Even long running daytime television.
PHILIP: Come on, man! There must be something you can do!
Dorkay shrugged.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
MARLENA: That might be, but the light that burns half as bright burns three times as long.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): But, the light that burns three quarters as bright burns five eighths as long as the light that's burnt out.
MARLENA: Okay, not even I can follow that.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Okay, okay, okay. Here's the point: you have all burned so very brightly and so very, very long. But, like Tom Horton said, “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives”. And, for you guys, the hourglass has run out. Accept it and die well.
MARLENA: Tell us about it.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): What?
MARLENA: I said, “Tell us about it.” If you're going to kill us off, tell us about it.
Dick walked over to his desk and picked up some papers.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): Your deaths shall be magnificent, sad and beautiful.
He gestures towards the papers.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): The shooting script. Here's how it goes down: you try to escape your destiny and run...
He picks up the gun from his deak.
DICK DORKAY (borrowed, with permission, from kpatch): I chase you.
OUTSIDE NBC STUDIOS – DREAM
Marlena, J.J., Shawn-D, Belle, Philip, Brady and Theresa run out of the building. Dorkay follows closely behind. As they try to make a getaway, Dorkay shoots all of them in the back. First Theresa, then J.J., Philip, Shawn-D, Belle, Brady, and last but not least, Marlena. They each fall to the ground, dead. Dorkay walks over Marlena's dead body, looks down at his creations, and shakes his head. Dick Dorkay is borrowed, with permission, from kpatch.
