Chapter 6
BROADWAY HOTEL – NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
It was now the next morning. Tony and J.J. had gotten a hotel for the previous evening and were now getting ready to get going. Tony was on the phone.
TONY: Yeah, got in just fine.
Pause.
TONY: By the way, I have a surprise for you.
Pause.
TONY: I met someone on the plane that I want you to meet.
Pause.
TONY: Oh, trust me, buddy, you definitely wanna meet this guy!
Pause.
TONY: Okay, we'll see you in about an hour.
Pause.
TONY: Sounds good, bye.
Tony hung up the phone.
J.J.: Who's that?
TONY: I mentioned that I had a friend who writes for MyHourglass, right?
J.J.: Yeah.
TONY: That's him. I'm sure you'll like him. And I know he'll love meeting you.
FOUR SEASONS HOTEL – CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Brady had let Theresa sleep in, and had gone down to get some breakfast. He came back a little while later, and Theresa was still asleep, so he quietly packed. By the time he had finished, Theresa woke up. She shut her eyes and groaned as soon as she opened them again.
BRADY: Morning, sunshine.
THERESA: Ugh...do you have to talk so loud?
BRADY: How're you feeling?
THERESA: Horrible.
BRADY: Not surprised. You had a rough night.
Brady walked over to the bathroom, filled a cup full of water and took two pills out of his suitcase.
BRADY: Let's see if we can change that.
He brought the water and the pills over to Theresa.
THERESA: What's that?
BRADY: Aspirin. It'll help with the hangover.
Theresa took the aspirin and drank the water. Brady handed her some clothes.
BRADY: Get dressed. We've got stuff to do.
Theresa groaned.
THERESA: Can't I just stay here until my head isn't splitting?
BRADY: Your head won't be splitting after a while. This is gonna help.
Theresa took a deep breath.
THERESA: Fine. Just give me a few minutes.
She took the clothes and walked to the bathroom. A little while later, she came out completely dressed.
THERESA: Where are we going, anyway?
BRADY: To find the actors who play us, as well as our creator, and try to convince them not to cancel Days.
THERESA: Brady, I'm not gonna be any help to you like this.
BRADY: That's why I'm sobering you up, first. Come on.
They got their things and went out to the car.
CAR
Shawn-D, Belle and Philip had spent the morning looking around Springfield, Missouri for Jay. They had stopped in most restaurants and convenience stores around. Finally, they came to a place.
SHAWN-D: Okay, this is the last diner in Springfield. If he's not here, we'll have to start looking in the stores.
PHILIP: No need for that.
There, sitting in a corner table in the window was the man himself: Jay Kenneth Johnson.
SHAWN-D: Okay. Philip, you'd better wait here for about five or ten minutes.
PHILIP: Why?
SHAWN-D: Try to imagine how weird it would be to see another you who wasn't exactly you.
PHILIP: No weirder than it is for me.
BELLE: Look, we just need a few minutes to explain the situation. Five, tops.
PHILIP: Okay, but after five, I'm coming in. I wanna meet this guy.
Shawn-D and Belle got out of the car and went in.
