I watched it too and really liked John Paul..... a pretty good actor and quite good looking, so I am anxious to see what he brings as Philip Kiriakis ... it won't be Jay, so unfortunate, and it won't be the same Philip. We'll just need to wait and see.

We'll just need to wait and see. Definitely won't be the same without Jay, but I think the show could have done far worse in terms of a recast. John Paul even has the dimples/deep creases so even visually he has a Philip/Jay vibe. |

If I remember correctly, he was...................... at least this recast is of an known and respected actor, who I think is quite talented, again, sadly not Jay, but I think he will make a good and interesting Philip and I will watch him unlike I did with the other recast... This photo jaysfan makes me think he'll fit with Kate and Victor...he has the suit and tie Kiriakis serious look there. I am interested to see what he'll do with the role. |

I am very curious to see JPL as Philip. I liked him a lot as Rex on OLTL. I was worried I'd see Kassie as Blair instead of Eve, but now I don't even think of Blair when I see her on DOOL. I'm hoping it'll be just like that with JPL as Philip. He is a good actor and I think he and Martha Madison will look good together.
Kate needs someone's life to meddle in, so Philip coming home to Salem will be perfect for her.

I must be living under a rock, I didn't even know Philip was coming back, ha! ha!
I have to say, I am surprised they are bringing him back. There seem to be quite a few folks around with a Kiarakis connection of some kind...Victor/Maggie, Eric plus his baby mama, by extension Eric's dad (who I think is Victor's former son-in-law), Daniel (Victor's Godson and step-son), and I think Bo's coming back too (Victor's son), plus Hope who is the mother of Victor's grandchild. Who am I missing that isn't connected to the family? Oh yeah, there is Justin and Adrienne.
The family that is shrinking here is the DiMeras. I always laugh whenever any character talks about "THE Dimera family" or "the DiMeras" Really? There are only 2 people on the show, and one of them I count as a half of a DiMera, ha! ha! I mean poor Chad gets lumped in with them but he wasn't ever raised to be one of them and has never gone completely off the reservation like the rest of them. He just faces guilt by association. In fact, has this Chad even ever committed an actual crime? |

Was Jay even asked to come back? surely both Griffeth and Higgley would know he is a favourite to most of us. From the looks of it in SOD it sounds as if he was not asked to come back Griffeth said he looked at a picture of JPL on winterthorne and decided he should be philip.

If Jay wasn't asked to come back..... it was a gigantic mistake because Jay is Philip............... he created and gave life to the character. John Paul is a good actor, but not sure he will be the Philip we knew and loved. |

But with Philip returning I wonder if his return will have more to do with Titan? Or if he will be dealing in the illegal side of Victor's businesses?

John Paul, loved him on One Life to Live as Rex Balsom and I for one know he will do a great job in the role as Philip Kiriakis and looking at JPL he actually looks like he can be a son of Kate and Victor looks wise but personality wise it is a wait and see approach but I do know John Paul Lavoisier he can definitely act so he has that in his favor
