Galen Gerin posted on his Twitter account a picture of a memo that went out to all actors at Days which read:

Attention Cast and Crew, Facebook and Twitter: Everything you see and hear is confidential, from who's on set to storyline and even hair and wardrobe. Please don't tweet, blog, update status or share information in any other format unless cleared with publicity. Thank you for helping us with our strategy! Corday Productions.

Galen added "Big things going on here at Days!" "I'd tell [you] all about it, but we've been sworn to secrecy!"

So, since it's been made public of all the returning actors, Deidra, Drake, Matt, Christie, Patrick etc. what could be the big deal...

And here are some other tweets from the returning actors:

While I've seen so much about who's returning, I haven't seen much, if anything, on their storylines. Maybe that's what Corday is trying to keep under wraps. There's all the buzz words and phrases of "returning to the romance, adventure, the Days of old, etc" but there are no specifics on how the plan to accomplish that.

I think you are right that it's the stories they want to keep under wraps. TPTB want former viewers to know about the returns so that they will tune in again.
