Stefano has certainly taken over a good portion of the show lately...and I find that a good thing.... I never ever liked the character before....not any time during the 102 years he's been on....and the last two times they brought him back I was not a happy camper...not at all.....but now, I am glad he is in Salem and has an active role in the show......he came back this last time and has been like a house ablaze...!! I know he's rotten, rotten to the core, I know he does really bad things, and has done so repeatedly since day one.....But I tend to root for him anyway.....I love his relationship with Kate, I love his relationship with his grandchildren, especially Johnny, I like his relationship with EJ.....and I love how he calls people out, like Taylor, EJ, Sami, Bo, Rafe etc. We may not like what he says to some of them because it tends to put the "good" characters in a bad light, but what he says is usually the truth......and the way he says it is delicious.....!!!! Joe Mascolo shines in the role.....he's a great actor and I've never seen him do a bad acting job in single scene.... Looking forward to watching Stefano's battle to keep his grandkids in his life and watching him further his relationship with Chad......

He certainly has humanized Stefano this time around. Has it really been 102 years? Time flies.

I love Stefano, and I really credit Joe Mascolo for that. He's had several emotional scenes that to me,really gave us a different side to Stefano. For me,he's always a joy to watch.

I really enjoy Stefano for the most part. In the past you didn't see the emotional human side to him like we do now. He truly loves his grandchildren and would give his life for them. He gave Chad more love than he'd ever had from a father.

Current Stefano is a lot more human and personable than 80s Steffy, who was a bad-arse villian that even had me shaking in my boots, LOL. I do like him now, though, and am actually rooting for him to either run away with Johnny/Sydney or to get partial custody of the kids.
I agree, the actor shines in all his scenes, even when he doesn't have to do anything.

He has a good chemistry with all of his scene partners. I really hope that he and John will be interacting a lot.

OH I love Stefano, but I disagree about the humanizing part. He's getting older for sure so he's probably had to cut back on some of his evil ways and rethink how many times a Phoenix truly can arise from the ashes...lol...so he has "softened a bit. But he is every bit as evil as before...don't you let yourselves be fooled but his "love" for Giovanni. I think EJ is learning more about love than Stefano. He did sign those papers showing that on some level he understands the horror of having to grow up attached to a monster for a parent.
And as much as I love he and Kate, I really think he would thro her under the bus if push came to shove. I mean he was going to leave the country without telling her. What? He didn't think she could keep a secret? ;D

I think we all know he's still evil and that he will make whatever decisions necessary to get what he wants...it wasn't that long ago he put his beloved Alexandra in the tunnel.....but here's the deal I think....we don't see Stefano do these nasty things, we don't see him be evil, we don't watch him rape/murder/beat with brass knuckles/shake/choke/pretend to inject with poison/gas/and so on.....we see him talk about it and make a phone call......that's it....so we can root for the old coot.....this is one time I have to praise the powers and writers at Days....they know how to keep people wanting to watch Stefano.....they have always written him very intelligently.....
