What do you think about public proposals? There are so many shown on TV and the internet. Some even invite family members to witness the event or orchestrate elaborate musical numbers. I am curious what you think.

I think it should be a private moment for the couple.

I think it depends on the people. I am a very shy, private person so I'd be mortified with a proposal on the jumbotron or even in a restaurant with everyone staring but other people love that stuff. And even though I would want my moment to be private I do enjoy some of the proposals people like to share. That one where the guy made the video to a Bruno Mars song while his fiancé rode on the back of a car is one of the sweetest things I've seen.

I agree, it depends on the people. I wouldn't want it. The proposal should be private. There are plenty of opportunities for the couple to be feted by friends and family in public settings, at parties and weddings. wendylou, I never saw that proposal with the Bruno Mars song.

Private all the way...the public wont be involved in your marriage so why should they be involved in the proposal?
I also think that wedding ceremonies should be private...I tried to have mine like that and just have everyone at the reception, but my wedding planner and the facility kept letting people in...so we had a bigger audience than intended. (sigh)
