This week's featured character is Salem's most beautiful businesswoman.... Kate Roberts!!! Portrayed by Lauren Koslow since 1996, Kate is Salem's "reigning resident bitch and all-around bad-to-the-bone mom. The perennial black widow...the kind that eats her mate alive after seducing him. Kate is the embodiment of the most sophisticated of schemers, with the ability to mete out poison and exact revenge from any outside threat to her and her family, and look great while she's doing so" Crimes Include: -Conspiracy to commit murder -Covering up Lucas' role in Franco's death -Drugging Sami and trying to kill her -Hiring hitmen to kill Victor, which resulted in the death of Brandon's wife -Trying to kill Victor with a poker -Attempting to change hospital records -Attempting to kill Chloe (by poisoning her) and frame Daniel -Throwing Nick into the river -Fraud In honor of the Christmas season, I chose this video to cover Kate's relationships with men, family and friends over the years:It's time to discuss Kate! Tell everyone what you think about this character! Do you like/dislike Kate? Are you enjoying her pairing with Clyde Weston or would you prefer to see her with someone else? Is there anything about her that you find disappointing or do you find her to be a rootable character overall? Let's get the Kate Roberts party started, shall we?

I have a love/hate relationship with Kate. I want to root for her, but most of her schemes usually backfire ~or~ never go anywhere. I think she's too overbearing with her kids (and Rafe). But, I think she's the only one who can get things done if she wants to.
She seems to be more of a filler character more than anything. I really hate that she's harassing Jordan for no particular reason and continues, when Jordan has made it clear that she has no interest in her former lover or Kate.
But, without Kate (or Nicole), there really wouldn't be much drama in Salem.

I love Kate! I always have despite the awful things she does. I root for her through thick and thin even though her behavior is often irrational, especially when it comes to interfering in her children's lives, and now her former lovers' life (Rafe). She is the mother of my all-time favorite character which certainly doesn't hurt her status with me. I was hoping there'd be a clip in that video showing her and Philip.
Even so, I loved the video. She was terrific with all those men, especially Roman!
Thanks @dukeblue!

I have a love/hate relationship with Kate. I really hate most of what she does, and I don't find her rootable because she's just too despicable and doesn't seem to have much, if any, remorse or empathy, though her last scenes with Sami modified that somewhat. At the same time, there's a part of me that loves her cool evilness and her diva ways.
What I really really hate now is that she is falling for Clyde's nonsense or seems to be. Wasn't she married to Curtis Reed??? The fact that no warning bells are going off aggravates me on a regular basis.

Kate and Lauren Koslow are unsung heroes of present-day Days. The character is ridiculous, but she's also the definition of the much-overused word fierce. She has chemistry with everyone, she's snarky, she can pull out the big emotions, and her fashion is usually on-point (and when it's not, it's amusing). I'm so glad they've kept her around and centrally involved in things.
I do wish she had more family on the show. Lucas is recurring, and she's not all that involved in Will's story. We could use a Philip, Billie, Chelsea… someone!

I love Lauren Koslow, but it's a love/hate with Kate. At times I root for her and at other times I want her to fall flat on her face. Right now I want a bit of karmic justice for her interfering with Rafe/Jordan so I want Clyde to be using her and she loses business-wise and regrets bringing Clyde to town. I do find it odd that she doesn't have any inkling what kind of person Clyde really is considering her past with Curtis Reed (and I do hope if they continue on with the Kate/Jordan feud that Clyde's past and Curtis Reed do get mentioned so Kate understands just what she has done).
I'm with Mikey, we need more familial connections for Kate. **hint hint, Phillip, hint hint**

Kate is a black widow she has kept Salem wondering what she is going to do next she is mean and nasty but her most most gracious excuse for being is she's Philip's mother

Mostly I love her.... I wish she had a real storyline that didn't involve Clyde. (Not a fan.). She's underused, in a sense....her primary purpose seems to be poking her nose in her children's lives. It's a shame, because Lauren Koslow is fun to watch and the character has the potential to do tons.

I usually like Kate because she is a bitch and she owns it. But I HATE this storyline with Clyde. I'm not enjoying watching an otherwise strong female character reduced to sleeping with/defending a child molester while also berating said molester's victim.

The one thing that will save Kate for me, in this whole Clyde mess, would be if Kate finds out what Clyde really did to Tammy Sue and then, realizing the gravity of what she's done, teams up with Jordan to bring him to justice.

I found Kate most interesting when she was with Sami. I do enjoy Kate with Lucas as well, however I don't always approve of her lack of motherly warmth.
I enjoyed the build up to her relationship with Clyde, but I am not feeling it anymore. They seem totally mismatched and I no longer find it believable that Kate would even be attracted to someone like Clyde. Her obsession with Jordan drives me crazy and her manipulation of Rafe is just downright sad.
I have rooted for Kate in the past, but right now I just can't. I'd like to see her taken down a few notches and for her to feel some of the misery that she has inflicted upon others. I hope this DiMera Enterprises storyline ends soon and they involve her character in something else.
