Writers out there. Just wondering, how do you write? Do you write the story in chronological order, or do you write out of order like me, and then put in order later?

I usually write in order, but with the story I just started, I'm trying something new. I'm writing all the scenes for one storyline and then all the scenes for the next storyline within a chapter. It's kind of scary for me but it's working so far.

I usually start with an idea of what I want to accomplish, and then I start writing. The idea of how I want everything to end comes first, but I write in chronological order. However, there are some scenes that I play out in my mind beforehand. For the most part, though, it's in chronological order.

I used to write in chronological order exclusively. But I found that when I'd get writer's block, writing out of order helped. So now I just write whatever scene inspires me and worry later about where it will go.

Typically I usually write in chronological order because I like to be orderly that way. But now if I'm busy with schoolwork and whatnot and I have a scene in my head that I'm just itching to write down, I just write whatever comes to mind. Whenever possible I would go back and edit/revise especially if I come up with something better or if whatever I've written comes out terrible. Also I'm in the habit of naming my chapters too. I've also gotten in the habit of writing character lists and outlines to keep track of my characters/plots.
