^Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess I wasn't too worried about sharing some of the names with you all because everyone here is so nice. But I have been a little cautious about sharing too much with people I come in contact with in person. You just never know what they're going to say and some people can be so rude about it. I have a friend who's also pregnant with a boy and she had her heart set on Colton but then her friends were making fun of the name like it was some sort of "hillbilly" name. So now they're going with Connor. I started actually writing down the names to see how it looked in written form and saying the full name aloud. Like I said, it's still a work in progress and I want to make sure we both absolutely love the name and are comfortable with it. After all, our son has to live with it for the rest of his life!

I can't remember where I heard it (it could have been the Cosby Show, or something my mother said) but I once heard "Say the name at least 20 times in a row in sentences like - Jax, come to dinner; Jax, clean up your room; etc. If you still like it after hearing it that many times, then you should be fine."

^^ I like that DD and it definitely sounds like something Bill Cosby would say. Another piece of naming advice that I've read and agree with is "the name becomes the child". I've seen that play out strongest with two examples in particular. My best friend named her son Kirby. She got a lot of grief from other friends and family while he was on the way but stuck with it and it worked out great. He is 13 now and loves having a name no one else does, he's heavy into sports and Kirby is a sporty little name that everyone his age thinks is "cool". The other example is my sister. She chose the name Zephaniah for her son and everyone had something to say about it... but it turned out to fit my nephew to a tee. He has always gone by Zeph and is just as creative as his name. He loves it and no one can imagine him ever being called anything else. He made the name. No one who knows him thinks the name is "weird" anymore, they just think of him. That said, I still wouldn't suggest "Sue" for a boy, nor silly stripper names like "Bambi" or "Kandi" for a girl.

Sounds like Kazz has been listening to Johnny Cash! ;D
I had a friend named Colton and he was born & bred in New York City, definitely not a hillbilly..So yes, people need to get over it and realize it is the parents choice, even though I wasn't big on my brother naming his son Ethan... Now he is Ethan!

Congrats Sparky!! That is so exciting!! Boys are a lot of fun. Girls are too, but boys are a different world!!
My best friends little guy is Jacob Riley, so good choices. If we have more boys (I think we are done though) we like the name Samuel Brady or Ian. My grandpa's nickname is Brady (his real name is Brayton) and I thought it would be a nice way to honor him. Liam is actually a William and is named after my husband and father-in-law.
