Chapter 26
The Horton House
Ben and Abigail walk through the foyer, past the group huddled in the living and start to go upstairs when the doorbell rings.
Abigail: I’ll get it.
She opens the door, bites her fist in horror and gasps!
Abigail: Daddy!
Jennifer: Jack!
Eve: Jack!
JJ: Dad?
Jack: Ho ho ho. Meeeeeerry Christmas!
Paige: That’s Jack Deveraux? JJ, I thought you said your dad was dead. Liar!
JJ: I swear to you, Paige. I did not know about this.
Paige takes off and JJ runs after her. Meanwhile Abigail gives Jack a heartfelt hug. When Jack approaches Jennifer she backs away and runs up the stairs. Jack looks at the others in the room and claps his hands together.
Jack: So how’s everybody been? Gee, it’s great to see you all. How about those Cubs? … So, what’s new? … Abby? Still a member of the Golden Circle Club?
Abigail (twisting a strand of hair): Um, could you call me Abigail, Daddy?
Bo: I think we should give the Deveraux family some time alone.
Everyone files out the front door except Ben and Eve. Ben mouths to Abigail and points to his watch.
Abigail: I can’t go. You go on ahead. Call me and I’ll meet up with you.
Ben nods and leaves the house.
Abigail: Um. I’m gonna go upstairs and check on Mom.
Abigail leaves the room.
Eve: Well well well, never expected to see you again, Jack Deveraux.
Jack: I’m so happy to be back that I’m even glad to see you, Eve.
Eve: And you, you’re just as handsome as ever. Listen, hon, if Jennifer asks you about a book deal agreement that you signed 25 years ago giving me rights to any future books you might write, just go along with it, okay?
Jack: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Eve: Just tell her that you wanted me to have the rights to all the royalties. Listen Jack, I’ve gotta run, but it was great catching up. Call me, okay?

The Square
JJ: Paige, wait.
Paige: Wait for what?
JJ: I … I don’t know. Why are you mad at me?
Paige: Because your father’s alive.
JJ: Well that makes no sense.
Paige: Why didn’t you tell me?
JJ: Because I didn’t know.
Paige: Seems like you keep a lot of secrets from me, JJ.
JJ: Look Paige. I’m kinda worn out from all the secrets I’m supposedly keeping from you. I told you the last of them — about my dad and my Aunt Kayla. As for my father being alive, well, I’m not sure how I even feel about that.
Paige: You should talk to him.
JJ: Probably. But not now.
Paige: Why not?
JJ: I’d rather be with you.
The Horton House
Jack: Abby, is your mother okay?
Abigail: It’s Abigail. And yes. Mom’s lying down. She needs some time alone so she can flip-flop.
Jack: I see. And what about JJ? What’s going on with him? He barely looked at me.
Abigail: I’m not sure, but I think he’s really been needing his dad. He keeps everything so bottled up.
Jack: And you? How are you?
Abigail: Oh I’ve been better. I only have one boyfriend at the moment and he’s leaving town, so things are a little tough on me right now.
Jack: I sure hope his name isn’t Dimera.
Abigail: Nope. I’m through with my Dimera phase. … I think.
Jack: You sound like your mother. A little ambiguous.
Abigail: What about you, Daddy? What about your future?
Jack: Not sure, except it seems like your mother doesn’t want me in hers.
Abigail: A lot happened while you were gone.
Jack: So it seems.
Abigail: She’s probably just a little upset because she had sex with fakeJack before he fell down the elevator shaft.
Jack: Ew. Creepy.
Abigail: I know. I’d better go check on Mom again, and see which side of the bed she woke up on.
Jack: Could you let her know I’d like to talk to her?

ABigail lamenting that she only has one boyfriend at the moment - typical Abigail.
Paige & her urge to run out the door all the time is getting on my nerves.
How are they so sure that this one is the real Jack?

I was hoping that the Jack who fell down the elevator shaft was a fake Jack! I am just so happy that he is back in town! I hope that he and Jennifer, as well as J.J. and Paige, can sort through all of their issues. Kpatch, this is one of my favorite stories! |
