The revolving door continues spinning at Days. Francisco San Martin (Dario) is the latest casualty, bringing the total of cast members who have received their walking papers in recent weeks to six. "I couldn't be more honored to have been part of an amazing team, both cast and crew who are both incredibly diligent and talented," the actor posted on his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Days is confirming that Co-Executive Producer Gary Tomlin has been replaced, and Supervising Producer Noel Maxam and Executive in Charge of Production Greg Meng will share duties. In addition to the reported returns of Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John), other former cast members will soon resurface. "[Days] has decided to bring back some of the old characters," San Martin shared in a tweet to his fans. Speculation is one of those returns will be Bryan R. Dattilo (Lucas) in light of the gay story the soap has planned for Will.
The cast is enthusiastic about the changes ahead. "I have great hopes for the show," offers Lauren Koslow (Kate). "[We're going] back to the history of the show and to the reality and the dynamics of family life."
San Martin and the five other pink-slipped actors (NB, TB, CC, BF, LS) will continue taping until early July. "There are a lot of hugs happening on the set," discloses Eric Martsolf, who considers the outgoing cast members friends.
Sums up Melissa Reeves, "Choosing to be actors in this industry, we always have it in the back of our minds that the job may last a long time or a short time. That doesn't make it any easier when people you really care about leave. But everyone who is leaving is so ultra-professional. They're all great. Everyone is handling it really well."
- In the "Stuff We Know and shouldn't tell you" section, it says: "Could Days's Christie Clark and Patrick Muldoon be coming back? That's the buzz..."

If we have to see the return of Austin I would definitely prefer Patrick Muldoon.

Still nothing official but SOD, SOW, and SON have all reported the speculated return of Bryan Dattilo ... not to mention the Peter Reckell tweets, etc. that hint at it. I have probably been one of the most cynical about that possibility in the past but now with Tomlin out and Meng in and the mags and SON all reporting the same "rumor", I am starting to get excited that a Lucas return may be a lot sooner than I expected.
I actually liked Austin for the very brief time that Patrick Muldoon was in the role so it will be interesting to see if he can make the character likeable to me again. I like Christie Clark but the poor thing has a near impossible task of ever making Carrie tolerable... although to give credit where it's due I didn't hate her return for the Alice memorial. I'm willing to accept a Carrie return in exchange for getting the real Sami back. I'm also excited for Alison Sweeney to get to work with two of her best friends again (Bryan & Christie) and I remember that Bryan and Patrick were good buds back in the day too. At least maybe some of the actors can start enjoying themselves again with their old friends back on set and the oppressive rule of Tomlin (and the incompetency of Higley) gone.

I would be thrilled to have Bryan return! I much preferred Patrick Muldoon. I am glad that Austin Peck has NOT been mentioned. Yuck! I am curious to see what happens when we get some fan faves back and with the new writers. I am cautiously optimistic!
