DAYS PREDICTION:
SAMI and EJ both are threatened. He takes the blame for everything. He fakes his death but we (audience) don't know. We go through all the loss, and Sami does EMMY STUFF losing him. Then, when she exits, we find out he's alive and she's going to him with the children.
My ending. Let's see if it happens.

I'm with you 100%. I think he "dies" too. AS left after James Scott so there's a time gap fitting for Sami to mourn, need to leave town with her kids, and then we see EJ with her or some kind of indication he's alive and going to be with his family. It also opens up for Sami to return sometimes and drop into town without him.
