@mae, Here's my suggestion: Ask some personal questions, how long they have been working there, what they like best, what are the biggest challenges. Ask what you need to do to be successful or fit into the team. Good luck!

Well, it's done. I think it went good. I guess my low-self esteem is taking effect again but with this being a whole new area for me (databases instead of bookkeeping & accounting) after talking to them, now I'm even more nervous about my ability to learn the job and perform it as quickly and efficiently as they do. I know that it will take time to learn it and I would have some good support from most of them. Kowing me I'm probably just making a mountain out of a mole-hill.
I still didn't have any questions for them, because any I did finally come up with were pretty much answered up front. So when they asked, I just told them that's where I felt disadvantaged because I already know so much about how the firm operates and kind of what their day entailed since I had worked so closely with a couple of them during our transisiton a couple of years ago and was still working through minor problems with them.
Thanks everyone!

I finally heard back about the lead teacher position at my school and I didn't get it. It was a pretty advanced class and I'm not really surprised, but it still stings. I'll wait to see who they did hire, and if they're a 1st year teacher, I'm gonna be pissed! The good news is I'm still employed, just in my old (do nothing all day) position, so that means I'll be able to post alot on here when school starts. Silver lining?

Good luck Mae! That stinks DD. It always sucks when you get passed over for a promotion. Something better will present itself.

Ugh DD...I hope that they hire someone with a lot of respect and experience to take the sting away (since they foolishly passed you up).
Good luck, Mae! Remember, they liked you for a reason, and you can definitely learn the programs. Heck, if you can figure out proboards, you can figure anything out!

LOL Trey. Proboards is a lot easier than some other websites.
So sorry DD. Hopefully there is a reason that happened, not unlike what happened to GG.
And Mae, I agree with Trey. They already know you and like you or you wouldn't have come this far in the process. It will take time to learn it and they know that.

@dd - I'm so sorry!! But yes, as others have said, something better is coming you way. Just be patient and open to it and it will find you when you least expect it to. Trey - LOL! Thanks that gave me a much needed laugh! Thanks for the support everyone! After thinking about it some more yesterday afternoon, last night and today, I'm not as nervous about it as I was when I walked out of the "pow-wow". There is a guy on that "team" that I have known since I was three (I'll be 30 in December) so I know it was presented in a little harsher format for me than it probably was for the others and I expected it to be rough, but I didn't expect that rough. I don't hold it against him tho because he had to do what he did in order to make sure no one thought he was showing favoritism should they decide to offer me the job. He did sit back quite a bit and let others ask the questions and lead the discussion and then he would expand a little more on it.

Thanks everyone. I just got word that another spot may come open and it's definitely more suited for me, so I'm hoping that's the reason I didn't get the other one. This second one would be a much better fit. It isn't posted as an opening yet, but I hear it might be posted pretty soon. Fingers crossed. Good luck Mae!!! You know you've got us all behind you!
