Who has plans for Labor Day?

Me! The past few years, I have taken the long Labor Day weekend to take a short road trip to Dallas (just over 3 hours south of me). I stay the weekend in a nice hotel, shop, go to the Arboretum, shop, spend time at the art museum, shop, hit some antiques stores, shop, and wrap the weekend up with a massage and facial at a day spa close to the hotel. I definitely have to save up for the trip, but it is a nice way to unwind after the hectic beginning to the school year.

Me too! I am going to Chicago. I need a vacation. The weather report says it's supposed to rain, but I can handle that.

Somehow, I've never made it to Chicago. What do you like to do there?

OMG there's so much! One of my favorite things is the architectural boat tour. It's a really cool way to learn about the city's history. Navy Pier is fun to see/visit. There's a restaurant on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building with great views. The Art Institute is very cool. There some shopping you can't miss on the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street. And then the food .... mmmmhhhmmm! I also love the Adler Planetarium.

We'll just be staying close to home. We go to my parents' house for a cookout on that Sunday.

That sounds fun, unavitasegreta! Almost all of my travel is somehow work-connected, but I will have to get to Chicago! Is it better to drive or fly?
