Was a golden opportunity missed for another serial killer storyline in Salem? Over the last few months, we have seen some characters exit the canvas(Chloe, Cameron, Chad, Liam, Percy & Nick) and there are more departures to come(Gabi, EJ & Sami). Could the writers have incorporated some or most of these characters in a murder mystery on a larger scale?
Are you content with the way their exits were written and the resulting storylines, or would you have welcomed another serial killer to Salem? Would it have even been feasible with the time span needed for it to play out or would it have been worth it?

I don't want all of those characters dead. I'm not sure how long time viewers would take to another serial killer story after the fake one we endured.

I don't want all of those characters dead. I'm not sure how long time viewers would take to another serial killer story after the fake one we endured. I was thinking the same thing. I think we've had a couple fake serial killer storylines, so I don't trust the writers to do it well. I do, however think the writers got it wrong in some other places, like Nicole and Eric. I think Gabi's jailhouse scenes have been some of her best so I'm definitely happy with her and Nick's exit stories. Two young adults with a lot of potential that was wasted - pretty tragic.

Liam's story came to a fitting end.
I think the writers wanted to leave Chad and Chloe's exits open. This way they can easily return to Salem in the future. Plus Chloe being out of town gives a place to send Parker when he's not involved in Daniel's scenes.
Nick and Gabi are both leaving in ways that generate storylines for other characters.

I don't think they needed another serial killer storyline right now. They had some pretty big stories that they could have sky rocketed with but there was several things that were done wrong. All of the off screen conversations as of late being a big big issue. Several of the people in very big storylines aren't even interacting with each other anymore - even if they are dealing with their own issues, it would be nice to see Brady step up and be there for his friend Rafe. It would be nice to see Rafe interact with Nicole on both her issues and his, John really isn't serving a purpose here.....at least Marlena was called in to talk to Gabi. So many angles that could have been spun from these individual storylines yet nothing.

Either that, or all his conversations with people are offscreen.. I don't understand why he "came back", just to disappear again other than giving his son a million lectures about Theresa (even when he knows that it's not going to change anything). The story seems to be going nowhere. I enjoyed Rafe & Nicole's friendship, I wish they would have them interact more again.. Nicole hasn't even met Jordan as far as I know, and she visited him like once while he was in the coma.. So weird. When were Rafe and Brady friends? Was Rafe even at the Kristen & Brady "wedding"? |
