I am so glad that Phillip is taking the high road here. The old Phillip wouldn't be so considerate of her feelings. So glad he added that last sentence!!

It must have taken all the willpower he has to stop. It has to feel good to know Chloe wants him. It seems like things get more confusing for Chloe rather than less.
Philip certainly didn't want to talk about Belle and Shawn.

Chapter 15b
“Chloe,” Philip said, returning to his seat on the bed, “if you still want me once you know everything that happened in your life, well ... I’m all yours.”
After Philip left the room, Chloe found herself choking back tears. She put herself out there, which was never an easy thing for her to do. She let Philip know she wanted him and he shocked her by rejecting her.
The Philip she remembered best couldn’t keep his hands off of her. She used to think of them as teenage magnets. All throughout high school, they were completely wrapped up in each other. She woke up thinking about Philip. She went to sleep thinking about Philip. And in between, she spent the majority of each day with him. The pull between them was so strong, they were practically inseparable. And when they weren’t together, Philip always managed to find her no matter where she was. At the mall, in school, in the library, at Dot-Com.
But the Philip she spent time with these days seemed like he was working overtime to resist that pull. She felt like he was giving her mixed messages. The things he said didn’t sync up with the things he did. He says he wants her, but he keeps pushing her away.
Maybe it wasn’t reasonable to expect him to behave the same way he did in high school. A lot of years had gone by since then, even if she couldn’t remember them. What was it in her past, or in his past -- or in their past -- that was standing between them? What didn’t she remember that might make her feel differently about Philip?
Whatever it was, it scared her to death, because right now, Philip was her lifeline. Philip and her father were the only things that gave her a sense of stability, of safety, of sanity. If it weren’t for them, she was sure she’d drown.

So great to see her thought process. I can only imagine how confusing this is for her; but the Philip in your story is one I could love...I don't ever remember him being so mature on the show.

I am glad that you gave us a 'short' glimpse into Chloe's thoughts. (And I do mean SHORT!!!!!! I hope these lines "What was it in her past, or in his past -- or in their past -- that was standing between them? What didn’t she remember that might make her feel differently about Philip? " get her to thinking and hopefully remembering things. I do feel that Chloe and Phillip will get closure (and hopefully their happy ending) in this story!!

Bonus weekend chapter! Good to see Chloe both wanting to find out what happened that she doesn't remember and understanding how important Philip is to her safety and stability.

Chapter 16
“You told her!”
Philip was packing an overnight case when Craig appeared in the doorway of his bedroom. “Actually, Craig, I thought you already had, so I mentioned it to her. She’s fine with it, so stop worrying.”
“I thought we were on the same page, Philip. But you’re always going rogue on me. Talking to Marlena, telling Chloe about the move after we agreed that I’d tell her. I feel like we’re working at cross purposes.”
Philip stopped packing and walked toward Craig. “We are not working at cross purposes. I want the same thing you do, and that’s to see Chloe healthy and whole again.”
“Except you want her to remember loving you. That’s not my main concern,” Craig stated.
“It’s not mine either.”
“Sure it’s not,” Craig said wryly as he walked around Philip and looked at the half-packed case. “When are you leaving?”
Philip looked at his watch. “Soon as I finish packing.”
“So you’ll be gone a couple days.”
“One night anyway. I have some business to take care of while I’m in Chicago. I want to check the condo, see if there are any bills my business manager hasn’t paid yet, stop into the Randolph Street office.”
“Good, I think some time away from Chloe will do you both some good.”
“What’s with all the inuendo, Craig? Chloe and I were going to get married, and now you act like I’m the enemy, like I don’t care enough, like I only want one thing from her.”
“Don’t you?”
“Jesus, Craig.” Philip thought for minute. “If all I wanted was sex from Chloe, then why did I turn her down an hour ago?”
“You ... turned her down?”
“I feel really weird talking to you about this, but I just want to set the record straight. Yes, I turned her down. She was willing, but I don’t think she’s emotionally ready. That’s how much I love your daughter. And you want to know something else? I fell in love with her when I was 16. And it was a long time -- years -- before we made love. I never pushed her Craig.” Philip paused for moment thinking about the night Parker was conceived. Okay, there was that once, but Craig didn’t need to know about that.
“That’s good to know. You have to know, I’m just looking out for my girl.”
Philip looked at Craig. “So am I.” Philip’s cell phone rang. He picked it up and looked at the display. “I need to take this.”
Craig nodded and left the room as Philip answered the phone. “Dad. What’s going on?”
Over the phone, Victor said, “You received a package here today. It was forwarded along with your other mail from Chicago. It looks important. Philip ... it’s from the Department of Defense.”
Philip raised an eyebrow. “Really. Hmmm. Okay. I’m actually on my way out of town for a day or two. I’ll swing by the mansion when I get back to town.”
“That will be fine. Son, I saw Parker this morning. He’s getting that gleam back in his eye.”
Philip smiled. “I know. It’s a miracle.”
There was a long pause, then Victor spoke again. “Philip, I’m not going to ask where you are right now,” Victor said. “Brady filled me in a bit and I know you can’t tell me. I just want you to know I’m here if you need me. Or if you need any resources.”
Philip took a deep breath. “That means a lot. Thanks Dad.” He checked his watch again. “I’ll see you in a couple days.” Philip hung up the phone and finished packing. Then he headed to Chloe’s room.
~~~~~~~
“Chloe?” He knocked on the door with the knuckle of his index finger.
“You can come in,” she said.
He opened the door and remained standing in the doorway. She looked at him from her bed where she was reading a book. She looked so young and sweet, he thought. He felt like he was a hundred years older than she. “I’m going out of town for a day or two.”
Chloe got a worried look on her face as she stood up from the bed. “Why?”
“Just a few things I need to take care of,” he explained.
“Is it because you want to get away from me?”
“What?? No, of course not, Chloe,” he said sincerely. He wished he could tell her that the reason he was going was ultimately to help her regain her memory.
She walked over to him, put her arms around his waist, and rested her cheek against his shoulder. “I don’t want you to go,” she said. “I feel so disconnected without you and I’m scared you won’t come back.”
He smiled and wrapped her in his arms, stroking her hair. “It’s okay sweetheart. I’ll be back before you know it.” He leaned away and saw the tears glistening in her eyes. She was scared and it broke his heart. “I’m not leaving you,” he said reassuringly. “I promise. I’ll never leave you.” He leaned in and kissed her lips softly. Then he looked at her again and all the words escaped him. He nearly said he loves her, but he couldn’t. Not yet. It might be too much for her to hear right now. So he just smiled and cupped her cheek.
It was so hard to pull himself away from her, but he forced himself to let her go. He turned around, went back to his room, picked up his overnight case, and left the house.
I have a bad feeling about the package from the DoD. Me too! On the positive side, I do like Victor playing nicely (despite not being a Chloe fan)...and offering his "resources," too, to help out. Wonder if Victor will get in on punishing Kate?? There's no love lost between those two.
