daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8462139/1/SOD Jennifer's daughter returns to Salem this week, played by newcomer Kate Mansi. "Abby surprises her," previews Melissa Reeves (Jennifer). "She has no idea that Abby is coming to live with her. So Jennifer opens the door and Abby is standing there and they both just cry and yell." Abby immediately weighs in on the situation with Jack. "She's a free spirit and totally confident and she's like, 'You need to leave Dad. He's a jerk," says Reeves. "She's pretty spicy and Jen is like, 'No, he's your father and you have to respect him. This is how he's always been. I know him and you know him.'" Then she meets Daniel. "She's like, 'Daniel, he's cute. He saved your life,'" adds the actress. Mansi is already loving her alter ego. "Abigail is amazing," she raves. "She's really sassy and feisty and I definitely have a little of that in myself, so it's fun. She's 19, so she's going through some of the growing pains of trying to find her way between being a girl and a woman. She's finishing up college and she's also dealing with a lot of family issues with her mom and dad being away, so I think she's progressively getting stronger." Abby crosses paths with Chad this week and sparks fly. "Casey [John Deidrick, Chad] and I have a lot of fun together," Mansi enthuses. "I met him when I tested for the show last summer, I think, and when we tested together, we had a great chemistry and a really quick banter. I was like, 'I would love to work with him,' and that didn't work out. Then I came back on the show and he saw me the first day and was like, 'Oh, my gosh. I can't believe it. You were my favorite.' Casey brings a lot to the table comedically as well as dramatically, and I feel like we both challenge each other, which is a really good thing to have with someone you work with. I feel really blessed to have that natural chemistry with him." Mansi first airs on March 2. SOW Article: Kate Mansi begins airing as Jack and Jennifer’s daughter Abigail on March 2nd. Mansi is very excited about taking on the role, and says that everyone was very welcoming. “The second that I stepped on that set, it was like I was with all my old friends. Everyone treated me like family,” Mansi said. She says that she had her lines memorized a week before her first day at work because she believes preparation is very important for an actor. “I felt it gave me the freedom for the character to sort of bleed through. I was so nervous. I wanted to run my lines with Missy, but I didn’t want to seem too forward and ask her. The second I was in the makeup chair, she said, ‘Hi, Kate. You wanna run lines?’ I said, ‘Yes, please!”’ She has worked mostly with Melissa Reeves who she calls “extremely talented” and “such a mom.” Abby is a bit different when she returns. Mansi believes she is going through some growing pains and is drawing a line in the sand that wasn’t there before. “She’s a little older, and she’s crossing that line between being a young girl and a woman,” Mansi says. Abby is struggling with her immense love for her dad, and all that hurt that’s coming from his broken relationship with her mother. This also fractures her own relationship with her mother. She wants her dad to come back, and she wants a sense of family. When Abby first sees Jennifer with Daniel, she is taken aback by the hot guy in her house. On one hand she wants her mom to be okay and move on, but deep down she needs her parents to be back together. When she sees Daniel and Jennifer hugging, she’s both alarmed and excited that her mom might be moving on. She thinks this might be enough to jolt her dad back into the picture when he realizes he doesn’t want to lose Jennifer. Mansi refers to her character as “Abigail” and says that’s how it appears in the scripts. Mansi likes this because she feels it’s representative of her shedding her younger naivete. She’s a lot more world experience now and can truly live up to the name Abigail.

I never much liked Abby...not as a child and not as a teen...maybe she'll appeal to me more this time......

I'm actually glad that Abby will have a "go for it, Mom" attitude instead of making her feel guilty about being a married woman to a deadbeat absent hubby. I can't wait for Jennifer to get the divorce papers.
As much as I LOVED Jack and Jenn in the past, I'm really disappointed that Jack left Jenn again.

Not that I am a Jack fan, but I just don't see Abby that way. From my recollections she is a big fan of her dad and was none to happy when Jenn and Frankie were going to be married and they thought Jack was dead, not just wandering around the wildenerness searching for the meaning of life. The writers are seriously going to gross me out with this Jenn/Daniel pairing.
I am, however, looking forward to Chad having more of a storyline. and The Horton DiMera connection. And Kate. Ooooo. I mean this is Lucas sister and Kate is the one her dad had an affair with to mae Lucas her brother. Got to be some fireworks there.

I was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge Jack fan back in the day. I wrote into Matt's fan club to beg for a picture and they sent me a 5x7 postcard. I framed it and kissed it every night for a looooooooong time. Of course that was when I was 12 or so. I am not all that thrilled with the return of Abby. I've seen pictures of Kate Mansi and, beautiful girl that she is, nothing about her says Jack OR Jenn to me. I just can't buy that they are in any way related, so that kinda kills it for me. Of course, none of Stefano's kids look like him either, but that's another thread. I find it hard to believe that a daddy's girl (like Abby was supposed to be) would ever encourage her mom to divorce her dad. As for a Jenn/Daniel pairing, sadly I don't think there are any other single men in that age group in Salem, so who else is she gonna go for? It's either a 20-something or Victor. Unless I'm missing someone, those are pretty slim pickings. And for the record, Daniel grosses me out too.

I am glad that Abby is coming back. I just may have to start watching again before the Rafe2 storyline ends to see her. I always liked Abby. I really can't remember how she reacted to the Jen and Patrick pairing, but I remember her no happy about the Jen and Frankie pairing once Jack did return and showed up just as Frankie and Jen were pronumced man and wife.

I used to like Abby. I liked her relationship with Jack a lot. And I really like Abby and Max together. I liked Max with Abby more than with any other girl.
Looking forward to having another Horton on the show.

Not to repeat things too much, but Abby started out as dark haired and dark eyed up through her preteen years.....

I agree ghoulgirl. I think she should be blond/blue eyed like her mother but that's probably just because I was so used to the old Abby. As long as she's a good actress that's all that matters I suppose. After all it's hard to imagine Stephanie being Steve and Kayla's daughter with the dark hair/eyes but Shelley is a good actress. From what I remember with Abby, she was always a bit of a daddy's girl so I'm finding it a little difficult to swallow this bit about her telling her mom to go for it with Dr. McSkeevy. I just can't imagine she would be bad mouthing her father like that and telling her mother to basically have an affair. Not buying it. But then again these are the same writers who think Rafe 2 is just awesome and Ejaylor is the second coming of Romeo and Juliet.

Hehehe! PA is funny! ;D Combo names are allowed here! I feel liberated and free! It's nice, right! Back to Abby though, I will withhold judgement until I see her interact with Missy (Jenn). If they have "chemistry", if you will, then I think I can buy it. Of course I might also wait a month or so just in case the character is taken in a "different direction."

I agree. I have high hopes for this Abby, I am just nervous that I won't feel that she fits! Cannot wait to see her onscreen tomorrow! (Or at least on my screen anyway, as I am a day ahead of the US! LOL)
