Chapter 30
SAMI & LUCAS' APARTMENT - SYDNEY'S BEDROOM
Ceri was groaning in her sleep. Sydney had woken up, and was trying to calm her down. Soon, Ceri was screaming.
SYDNEY: Ceri? Ceri, it's okay. It's okay, sweetie.
Ceri stopped screaming after a minute. She opened her eyes and looked around.
SYDNEY: Hey. Hey, it's okay. What is it? What's wrong?
CERI: Bad dream.
SYDNEY: What happened in it?
CERI: Well, you remember the garbage compacter from the original Star Wars?
SYDNEY: Yeah.
CERI: I was stuck in there. And the walls were closing in. And it doesn't help that I'm claustrophobic.
Sydney put a hand on Ceri's cheek, wiping away a tear.
SYDNEY: Hey, it's okay. It's okay. You're safe now.
CERI: I was just really scared.
SYDNEY: I know. I know. Come here.
Ceri hid her face on Sydney's shoulder. Sydney rubbed her back and ran a finger through her hair.
SYDNEY: You're okay now, sweetie. It was just a dream. It's okay. I'm right here. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise.
After a few minutes, Ceri calmed down.
CERI: Thanks for being such an amazing girlfriend.
SYDNEY: No problem. Thank you for being the most amazing girl in the world.
Ceri smiled and they kissed.
CERI: I love you.
SYDNEY: I love you. Now, come on, let's try and get some sleep.
CERI: Okay. Will you hold me?
SYDNEY: Sure. Come here.
Ceri put her head back on Sydney's shoulder, and the girls drifted off to sleep.
KIRIAKIS MANSION - KITCHEN
BRADY: Couldn't sleep?
PHILIP: Nope. You?
BRADY: Nope. A lot on my mind, lately.
PHILIP: You're telling me. At least you don't have to practically rebuild a company.
BRADY: What are you talking about?
PHILIP: I don't know what you've been doing with Titan while I was away, but it's nearly been run into the ground. It needs to be freshened up a bit.
BRADY: It was being freshened up a bit. That's what I was doing before you swooped in and stole it from me.
Philip cracked two eggs into his frying pan.
PHILIP: You want some?
BRADY: What? You're cooking?
PHILIP: I thought I'd give it a try.
BRADY: Ah, sure. Why not? After all, what's life without a risk?
PHILIP: Amen to that.
Philip added two more eggs.
BRADY: This battle over Titan needs to stop.
PHILIP: I can't see it going away anytime soon. You want the company and I want the company.
Philip got out two plates and put half of the eggs on each plate. He set one down in front of Brady, who had gotten a knife and fork; then he gave one to himself.
BRADY: Come on, man. What would be the harm in working together? I'm more than happy to split the company 50/50.
PHILIP: I don't do 50/50. And I definitely don't split my company with you. Last time father trusted you with the company, you gave half of it to Madison James. Look how well that turned out.
BRADY: That was years ago, Philip. I was a confused and angry young man at the time. I've grown now. We both have.
PHILIP: The answer is no.
BRADY: You won't be able to keep me away from Titan forever.
PHILIP: Maybe not, but I can try my darnedest. I can make life very difficult for you.
BRADY: Okay, I don't know what this whole issue you have with me is, but it can't be allowed to continue. It just can't. I'd try to convince you, but everything I have to say has already crossed your mind.
PHILIP: In that case, I'm sure my answer's probably crossed yours.
Philip finished his food and put his dishes in the sink.
PHILIP: Good night.
BRADY: Night.
Philip went to walk out, but turned back.
PHILIP: Do you know what happens, if you don't stop trying to nose your way into my company? To you?
BRADY: Let me guess, you're gonna disown me? Kick me out?
PHILIP: Kick you out? Well, no, that would be stupid. I may need you, one day. But, not any time soon. When the time comes, you will get your share of Titan. Until then, stay out of my way.
BRADY; Or what?
PHILIP: If you don't stop getting in my way, I'll burn you. I will burn the heart out of you.
Philip turned on his heel and walked out.
