Marlena wraps things up by pronouncing Jackson Steven Kiriakis and William Robert Horton husbands for life. Lots of tears, applause and balloons drop.

So did they say if they are changing last names or anything? I don't know any gay couples who've gotten married and I was wondering about this. I have no idea if people normally keep their own last names, hypenate, choose which last name they want??? Is there a more common practice? Just wondering.

Wow I can't believe they are married. I hope that doesn't make them even more boring than they've been lately.

Interesting question....I'm assuming they will not change their names, a lot of women don't change their names after marriage now days, but I don't have any idea what the common practice is in a gay marriage.....

When Marlena pronounced them husbands for life, she used their full names (no combination names or a switch of either one's last name).

I like Sonny having the middle name Steve. I like the name Jackson much better than Sonny.

I had no idea Sonny's middle name was Steven, I guess he was named after both of his maternal uncles. I wish there would have been a mention of Alex, Joey, and Victor as well as Sonny's grandmother Jo Johnson and Vern.

It was a beautiful ceremony. Everyone who spoke said something very personal that added depth to the characters of Sonny and Will. It was more like a real wedding with all the family and friends in attendance and as attendants than soaps usually have. It wasn't over the top, just heartfelt and real. Loved JJ's guitar playing and mmmm didn't he look adorable.
Kudos to Days for doing such a tasteful job on their first gay wedding.
