We know Jack is coming back and rumor has it that John and Marlena may return. Who else do you think may be returning and why? What story might they slip into?
My thoughts:
Bill Horton - would slip into the Jennifer/Daniel/Jack story and could even give Victor some competition for Maggie's affections.
Mike Horton - Corday has said more Hortons will be on canvas. We need another doctor to replace Carly at the hospital.
Lucas - I'd love to see him come back, but I can't think where he might fit in right now.
Philip - Same as Lucas. Unless they choose to reunite him with Melanie, but I don't see that happening, especially since, according to Melanie, Philip has no sense of humor. If Nadia were staying, then maybe. She never cared whether Philip was funny or not.
More Hernandi - Please god no.
Steve, Kayla and Stephanie - I could see Kayla returning since Corday said there will be more focus on the Bradys, but I think he probably meant Sami, Sami, and Sami.
Nathan - A Horton, yes, but he's asleep upstairs. And maybe downstairs too.
Your ideas?

Bill - I agree with Kpatch's thoughts and he could even reconnect with Kate
Lucas- could be part of Will's storyline. He will need a supportive parent and Sami is too busy with the Rafes, EJ, and her little kids. If Bill is back they could get to know each other better.
Philip - obviously I want him to return but there's no story for him at the moment. I wish he'd come back temporarily to get Chloe and then they can leave together and be with Parker
Shane - would be fun to return temporarily and help with the Rafe/Sami/Fake Rafe story. A sexy British ISA agent would be a great addition.
Eric - I think Eric would be a good Brady to return. How about a Eric/Nicole/Brady triangle? Jensen Ackles has been gone long enough that a good recast would work.
Melissa - I would love for her to appear now and then with Hope and Jen and Maggie. I enjoyed the dynamic between the three cousins in their teens/early 20's. Maggie could use her daughter's support. I don't have a specific story in mind so that's why I think she could be more of a recurring character.
Hernandi- Just say no! We need less NOT more!
I am sure that there are more Horton cousins that I am not remembering at the moment. I hadn't thought of Mike but I'd be glad to see him return.
I would have said Craig and Nancy Wesley but obviously that is a moot point now.

Shawn and Belle- It would be fun to see these two return from their trip around the world, and we will need some younger blood with so many of the younger people out.
Billie and/or Chelsea- Billie could bring drama into Bope since Carly is leaving? And Chelsea could provide more young blood. Or even Max for that matter.
Lucas! I want Lucas to come back! He could have romantic entanglements with plenty of people, and his dynamic with Will and Sami is always fun to watch.
Phillip/Stephanie/Nathan- Any of these ppl could come back (recast or no) to boost the young people group also.
Gosh, there are so many possibilities, I hope they come gradually so the fall is "anything can happen" time.

I don't want to see Billie back. That ship has sailed. I want Bo and Hope to be happy!!
Lucas would be a good one to come back. I would love for Shawn and Belle to come back but it would only make sense to me if Chloe was staying and Phillip was coming back.
Steve and Kayla would be good too. Other than that I really can't think of anyone I really want to see back. Some were before I really started watching, so I don't really have anything to base that on.

There has always been plenty of untapped storyline for Lucas ... and not to mention that he was, is and will always be the perfect partner for the real Sami Brady. Philip - Same as Lucas. Double ... see all of the above about Lucas, plus the fact that Philip was a succesful character all on his own long before Melanie pranced her way into Salem. He doesn't need to be paired with her.... she is the one in need of someone to be paired with to give her a legitimate connection to Salem... esp. now that Carly is leaving. If the kid playing Abby could actually act, I would have wanted a Philip and Abby pairing. I really liked the girl who played her before (Ashley Benson?); they could have been very good together. Unfortunately, Abby got desorased and regressed in maturity upon her return to Salem and the last thing Philip needs is to be paired with yet another barely legal brat. Perhaps they could recast the role of Abby and give that a shot. There are plenty of places for both Lucas and Philip to fit into any number of storylines .... but for other reasons I don't expect to see either in the "before September" returns. What I suspect is that the other returning vets are not going to be the "big" ones that Corday promised. And frankly, I will be surprised if the ones who do return do much for the ratings. Not because I don't think they are popular, interesting characters that can carry good storylines, I just don't think they will get that opportunity and that TPTB will still try to make their current sacred cow "leads/couples" ("lead" makes me want to scream to the top of my lungs when I hear it used in relation to a soap opera) the focus of all stories and air time and that is never, ever, ever going to work... they have tried every freaking possibility imaginable and it just ain't happening. So as much respect as I have for what J&M, J&J, Bope, etc. have meant to Days and what potential they could still have with some truly original writing, even they can't make the status quo at Days work. If Corday is truly serious, there is one character in particular who needs to go and two that need to be moved from "lead" to "part of cast" and the entire structuring of the show needs to shift back to "ensemble cast" for the returns to work. Since I doubt that will happen, I doubt that the ratings will rebound enough and that Lucas and/or Philip will be likely future returnees, and hopefully by then maybe, just maybe Corday will have gotten this memo and we could actually have them both back with the storylines they should have had these past few years. |

I agree Kazz! There were many wasted opportunities for both Philip and Lucas. They could have been involved in multiple storylines not just romantic entanglements. The writing has to be there for the returning vets to make a difference. I am sure people will tune in initially to see Jack and/or John/Marlena but they need a reason to keep watching. I hope the new writers have a better vision instead of just writing for a few of their favorite characters. AMEN to once again having an ensemble cast! I certainly hope so!

I have a bad feeling though if they bring back Philip, it may not be Jay..Jay did leave on his own, so he may not want to come back...I don't think I can handle a new Philip again!
I also couldn't handle anyone else playing Lucas except Bryan...
