Hello, everybody. This is André DiMera of MyHourglass. I've been looking over my stories recently and I realized that a lot of them had bits cut out. Now, this was mostly for timing reasons. Also, I like giving actors character excercises during large group scenes and will ask them to stay in character for as long as they can. I have mentioned in the past that some of the best stuff from these acting excercises were not caught on film. Recently, however, I was proven wrong and several reels of unscripted scenes during acting excercises have shown up. I have decided to make a compilation of these and show them to you now. Please enjoy these deleted scenes and actimg excercises in a special that I have dubbed SALEM: THE LOST FILES

The Walmart Incident This first clip is the clip I've wanted to show you the longest. It is, therefore, only fitting that it be the first one to be shown. Some of you may remember the story This Charming Man (read here: myhourglass.proboards.com/thread/455/charming-man) in which Melanie meets her older brother Nicholas (posing under the name Adam Cartwright) in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. In my first mockumentary, A Look Back, I mentioned an incident at the local Walmart, which I at the time claimed I could not show you. Well, thanks to the Walmart security tape as well as one camera which wasn't turned off, I now can. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Walmart Incident. WALMART - LADYSMITH, WISCONSIN Melanie and Adam are walking down an isle. Each is pushing a shopping cart. ADAM: So, what do you need to pick up here? MELANIE: Just a few things. Extra toothpaste, floss, such as that. But, I wanna talk about you. When were you last in Salem? ADAM: Oh, it was a while back. I'd say...early 2000s, at a guess. MELANIE: Ever meet a guy named Daniel Jonas? ADAM: Can't say that I have. Why? MELANIE: No reason. Adam looks around the corner. ADAM: Should we do it now? MELANIE: Do what? ADAM: The cart races. MELANIE: That was a joke. I wasn't serious. ADAM: Come on, it'll be fun! MELANIE: Okay, fine. Ready. Set. Go! Melanie and Adam begin running down the aisles with their carts. Various items fly off of store shelves. Melanie accidentally rams her cart into, and topples over, a display case of I Am Number Four DVDs. Adam knocks over a shelf of Iron Man toys. Finally, the two stop. ADAM: Okay...I give. You win. The two look back and see a giant mess that was caused by them. MELANIE: Oops. Melanie and Adam laugh.

I've been wanting to know what happened at the Ladysmith Walmart for ages! I hope someone paid for all the damaged goods. Thanks for clearing up the mystery André DiMera.

The First Meeting This is another one that I've wanted to show you for quite a while. Some of you may remember that, half a year before the Summer Breeze saga began, I was planning on writing a different alternate future storyline. The cast would have been the same, mostly. However, at the time, I was writing the Jan Spears saga and included their fictional daughter Shauna into it. Summer Nights, the original planned story, had many foreshadowings of Summer Breeze. It dealt with Sydney liking girls, being at first afraid to admit her true feelings, and there was also a foreshadowing of the Alamain twins. That being said, there were some differences. In Summer Nights, Sydney wasn't constantly terrorized by her father, and the Alamain twins were fraternal, one boy, one girl: Scorpious and Bellatrix (Trix, for short). Only a little more than half the writing was completed when I moved on to other projects. To this day, I still don't know why I didn't finish it. A little bit of filming was also done. And some of the tapes have been found. Here is the scene were Sydney and Trix first meet. Liana Liberato plays Sydney while Juliette Goglia is Trix. HOLIDAY INN - CARDIFF, WALES Sydney had put on her bathing suit and was now walking out to the pool area. Nobody was there, so Sydney had the pool to herself. She got in and began swimming around. After a while, she got out and went into the hot tub. Then, she heard the door to the pool area open. She hd her eyes closed, so, she didn't see who it was. Then, she heard a voice. GIRL: Mind if I come in? Sydney opened her eyes. Start the video at 1:26 (listen for the rest of the chapter): She couldn't believe it. Standing in front of her was the most beautiful girl Sydney had ever seen. She just stared at her for a minute. Then, she snapped herself back to reality. SYDNEY: Sure. Please, come in. Sydney watched as the girl slowly walked into the hot tub. Before long, Sydney found herself playing with a lock of her own hair, which is something she only ever did when she liked somebody. GIRL: Where are you from? SYDNEY: Salem, U.S.A. Where are you from? GIRL: New York, originally. But, I live here now. Well, I say here. I actually live in Tywyn, Wales, but I'm taking a vacation. SYDNEY: Cool. Sydney and this girl couldn't take their eyes off each other. SYDNEY: I'm Sydney. GIRL: Trix. Are you here for long? SYDNEY: I don't know if I'll be here specifically for long. But, I'll be in the country for a while. TRIX: Cool. Sydney looked at the clock. SYDNEY: I gotta go. But, I don't want to. TRIX: It's okay. Maybe we'll see each other tomorrow. SYDNEY: I hope so.

Bowie Another one of the things about Summer Nights is that it had a rather large budget. It was set mostly in Wales and featured a few guest stars. One of these guests was David Bowie. A while back, I know I said that we had only gone through a few rehearsals with him. More recently, however, I discovered that we actually filmed one scene with him. The scene is between Shauna, Claire (played by Shailene Woodley) p, and Bowie. HOTEL Claire was just walking out of the hotel. Shauna ran in. SHAUNA: Claire, come with me! CLAIRE: Why? SHAUNA: I need to show you something! Shauna took Claire by the hand and the two ran out. PUB The two soon arrived at a local pub where David Bowie is performing the very end of the song Starman. BOWIE (singing): There's a starman waiting in the sky. He'd like to come and meet us but he thinks he'd blow our minds. There's a starman waiting in the sky. He's told us not to blow it 'cause he knows it's all worthwhile. He told me: let the children lose it, let the children use it, let all the children boogie. CLAIRE: Oh my goodness, it's David Bowie!!! Claire ran up near the stage. BOWIE: Thank you. Thank you. Who all has seen Labyrinth? There werre many cheers from Claire and the crowd. BOWIE: Good. I'm gonna need your help on this one, then. More cheers came. BOWIE: You remind me of the babe. CROWD: What babe? BOWIE: Babe with the power. CROWD: What power? BOWIE: Power of voodoo. CROWD: Who do? BOWIE: You do. CROWD: Do what? BOWIE: Remind me of the babe. After several laughs and cheers, Bowie started singing Magic Dance.

Return to Ladysmith One of my favorite filming locations has always been the AmericInn in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. It is simply gorgeous. I also love the pool room. For the story Spring Fever (read here: myhourglass.proboards.com/thread/6575/spring-fever), there was a scene shot at the AmericInn. I showed a little bit of the scene, but I gave the ctresses that played Claire and Ciara an acting excercise. Not much of it got on tape, but a little did. The unscripted bits start when Claire hangs up the phone. AMERICINN - LADYSMITH, WISCONSIN It was now early evening. Ciara and Claire had stopped in the town of Ladysmith, Wisconsin. They were currently in the hot tub of the AmericInn. CLAIRE: This place is adorable! CIARA: I know! It's so cute! It almost looks like a log cabin. CLAIRE: Totally. You know, I wouldn't mind staying here for a few more days. CIARA: Up to you, girl. I'm cool with whatever you wanna do. Claire's phone rang. Claire got out of the hot tub and walked over to the table with her phone on it. She picked it up and pressed a button. CLAIRE: Hello? SHAWN-D (VO, over the phone): Hey, Claire bear. How's the trip going? CLAIRE: Hi, Dad. It's going really good. Ciara and I are in this town in Wisconsin called Ladysmith. It has one of the most adorable little hotels! SHAWN-D (VO, over phone): That's great! I'm glad you're having fun! CLAIRE: So, how are things out there? SHAWN-D (VO, over phone): We're okay. Things are still a little crazy. CLAIRE: Crazy? How so? There was a brief pause. SHAWN-D (VO, over phone): I'll...I'll tell you about that later. I'm really sorry, but I gotta go. Love you. CLAIRE: Okay. Bye, Dad. Love you. Claire hung up the phone. CLAIRE: Well, that was weird. She went back into the hot tub. CIARA: How's Shawn? CLAIRE: Good. I guess things are pretty crazy out there. CIARA: Well, I guess with Jan Spears on the loose, that's to be expected. CLAIRE: Yeah. So, what do you think? Should we stay here for a few more days? CIARA: Totally! This place is awesome! CLAIRE: It really is. Plus, I'd like to see what the rest of town and the neighboring towns are like.
