EJ is making a drink when Stefan comes in. He just finished seeing Gabi & has a new lease on life. Kristen shows up & is shocked that Stefan is not in jail. He explains about the deal and that EJ was about to give him back his worldly possessions. She wants to know what is going on.
EJ claims not to owe her an explanation, but he says he doesn’t. She is a DiMera too, but EJ says something about blood being thicker than water. She figures that since he helped Stefan get out of jail, he must have gotten a big payday. EJ says the PR department is waiting for Stefan’s resignation and leaves the room.
After EJ leaves, Stefan says that since he can’t be CEO, Kristen can because she was pardoned. She is intrigued but wants to know what he wants in return. He wants her help in getting Gabi out of prison.
Kristen says that getting Gabi out of prison is insane. He tells her that she is the perfect person for the job then because she is just a little insane. She can do this if she really wants to be in charge at DiMera. She says she must think about it and wants to know if Gabi is innocent. Stefan is sure she is. She said if Gabi is innocent, they just have to find the real killer is.

They are finally remembering that Gabi is in prison (without trial) for something she didn't do. Why Stefan didn't negotiate for her freedom when he was making deals for himself is a mystery to me

This all seemed like a prelude for a Gabi comeback which I am NOT against.
But this DiMera clan cracks me up. Well-dressed vultures who suck down fancy hard liquor (not on the rocks) seemingly all day long as they fiendishly scheme against one another.

I don't really think Kristen needs Stefan's help to try and take over Dimera enterprises. I'm just sorry that we're being subject to another round of CEO roulette.

I sort of liked the power play stuff over the past couple of seasons, but this version feels more diluted and far less interesting. Especially with no Gabi around and Chad off on his newspaper field trip.
