I think he's been close to leaving before. I'm guessing the deal got sweeter and he agreed to stay the last time.
No idea if he will leave or is using this as a negotiating tool.

Wow, this has really been a mixed bag of news this week-good and bad. I am very much hoping James Scott doesn't leave. I know Stefano is still around, but I truly think this may spell the end of the Dimera influence in Salem. When is his contract finished? Does anyone know?

If James leaves, I imagine another Dimera spawn would miraculously appear, or Chad would come back and be more Dimera-like than before. Even if he stays, I wouldn't mind seeing less of an emphasis on his character. In my opinion, neither he nor Alison are great actors. They were merely the ones that the writers decided to focus on and give the best stories to.

I can definitely see him giving more consideration to leaving Days since Allison is. Yes, they've put him with other women before but Sami and EJ are the big draw with a majority of the audience and I think they enjoy working together. I can't blame anyone for wanting to explore other options but I have to say, I don't know of anything else he's got going on, as opposed to Allison, whose clearly got other things lined up. If he left, to me, he'd be more likely to return in a year or two after finding there's not much more out there (That's just my opionion from seeing it happen to so many other soap actors, maybe he'll be different.)
As far as the show goes, if they both leave, it will be a big hole in the show that could affect the ratings but all Days needs to do is commit to giving some of the other popular characters really good stories and think of all the fan faves they could bring back. I'm telling you, if I heard that Jay Johnson was coming back I'd be all, "EJ and Sami who?" I think Phillip, Chloe, Shawn and Belle, would all be big draws.

I'm not surprised if he does leave the show. They aren't using him like they should. He is capable of doing alot more then being thrust into endless love triangles. They are doing to him what they did to Jay & it is soooo hard to watch

Oh no. I hope he does not leave. James Scott (EJ) is the one I love to hate. With him and Allison gone the show will have a big hole to fill.

The last time his contract came up for renewal we got this same song and dance. If TPTB want to completely turn off 90% of their viewers, they'll let him leave. Otherwise, they'll fight like heck to keep him.

I'm sure many actors consider leaving when their contracts are up. Doesn't always happen though.

If you noticed characters on other soaps have storylines outside of their love lives. For a bit there a few years back...Days had mastered this...then bam we are back to majority one note love stories. |

Days needs to get back to the basics & start writing & doing like they used too to keep viewers & maybe even gain new viewers!! I would love to see Days bring back Brandon. I know it wouldn't be Matt Cedeno since he is on Devious Maids, but they could always try to recast. I would also love to see them bring back Stephanie & Melanie even though I know it won't be Shelley & Molly or even Belle & Shawn. I know they would never try to recast Philip since it didn't work last time, but I would like to see them bring back Philip. There are sooo many avenues to explore & I don't think TPTB are using those avenues right now |
