Chapter 60

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
ERIC: Do not keep in mind, O Lord, our offenses or those of our parents, nor take vengeance on our sins.
NICDEVIL: Oh, shut up.
MATT: Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earh as it is in heaven.
ERIC: Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,
ALL (except NicDevil): But deliver us from evil.
NICDEVIL: Yeah, yeah, I've heard this all before.
MATT: And now, a reading from the 53rd Psalm, a Psalm of David. God, by your name save me, and by your might defend my cause.
ALL (except NicDevil): God, hear my prayer; hearken to the words of my mouth.
There was a knock at the door. Kayla walked out.

OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL ROOM
CELESTE: Kayla, thank god you're here! We need to stop this! Someone is going to die!

NICOLE'S MIND
The fog has now cleared. Though it is still dark, there is a small light around Nicole.
NICOLE: Answer me. Answer my question.
The Devil sighed.
DEVIL: Which question?
NICOLE: If I have no hope, if we have no hope of defeating you, then why is it getting brighter in here? It is becoming lighter in here.
DEVIL: Is it? Or is it just in your mind?
NICOLE: I am in my mind. You've trapped me in here. But, I'm breaking out. And Eric and Father Matt will help me.
DEVIL: I doubt it. Oh, sure, they'll try, but it'll never work.
NICOLE: Are you sure?
DEVIL: Very sure.
NICOLE: Then why don't you face me?
DEVIL: Excuse me?
NICOLE: Face me. If you need proof that this will work and that I'm not afraid of you anymore, then face me.
DEVIL: Are you sure that is what you want?
NICOLE: Very.
DEVIL: I don't know...
NICOLE: Come on! Quit being a coward! Face me like a man!
DEVIL: I am no man!
Just then, the Devil himself appeared in front of Nicole. He stood eight feet tall, wore black robes, had a deep voice, a scar over his left eye, and the stains of blood over his hands. He held a huge blood red pitchfork in his hands.
DEVIL: I am Satan, Master of Death!

Wow!! Love Nicole and can't wait to find out what happens next. Love how she is so much stronger than she was and has such faith!!

Chapter 61

OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL ROOM
KAYLA: Celeste, it's good that you came, but we can't stop the exorcism.
CELESTE: But someone will die today.
KAYLA: It'll probably be the Devil.
CELESTE: What?
KAYLA: I said, "It'll probably be the Devil".
CELESTE: I understood what you said, Kayla. But, what? What do you mean?
KAYLA: Well, this is an exorcism. We are getting the Devil out of Nicole. What if what you saw wasn't one of us dying, but the Devil.
Celeste sighed.
CELESTE: That is true. I had not thought of that. Very well, then. I would like to help with this exorcism, if I may.
KAYLA: Sure, come on in. I'll share my response booklet with you.
Kayla and Celeste walked in the room.

NICOLE'S MIND
DEVIL: You claim that you are not afraid of me? Then look into my eyes! Stare into the face of death, girl!
Nicole stared him straight in the eye.
NICOLE: I am not afraid of you.
A large flame shot out of the Devil's pitchfork.
DEVIL: You feared me once, and you shall fear me once more!
NICOLE: How many times, Devil? How many times must we go through this song and dance? I no longer fear you, because I know Christ now.
At the word "Christ", the Devil dropped his pitchfork. The ropes tying Nicole down became even more loose. Nicole moved her arm and, after a moment, her right arm was free.
NICOLE: See? Your power is slipping.
DEVIL: No! It cannot end like this!

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
NicDevil was now unconscious. Eric sprinkled more Holy Water on her. She woke up with a shriek.
ERIC: We're not done with you yet, Satan. Don't go to sleep on us during our big speech.
NICDEVIL: Laugh it up, Priest.
MATT: I command you, unclean spirit, whoever you are, along with all your minions now attacking this servant of God, by the mysteries of the incarnation, passion, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, by the descent of the Holy Spirit, by the coming of our Lord for judgment, that you tell me by some sign your name, and the day and hour of your departure. I command you, moreover, to obey me to the letter, I who am a minister of God despite my unworthiness; nor shall you be emboldened to harm in any way this creature of God, or the bystanders, or any of their possessions.
Eric put both hands on NicDevil's head. She let out a shriek.
NICDEVIL: Aaaah! It burns!!
ERIC: They shall lay their hands upon the sick and all will be well with them. May Jesus, Son of Mary, Lord and Savior of the world, through the merits and intercession of His holy apostles Peter and Paul and all His saints, show you favor and mercy.
ALL (except NicDevil): Amen.

Chapter 62

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Eric made the sign of the cross twice, first over himself, then over NicDevil. He then put the end of his stole on NicDevil's neck. He placed his right hand on her head. This received more squeals and shrieks of pain from NicDevil.
ERIC: See the cross of the Lord; begone, you hostile powers!
ALL (except NicDevil): The stem of David, the lion of Juda's tribe has conquered.
MATT: Lord, heed my prayer.
ALL (except NicDevil): And let my cry be heard by you.
ERIC: The Lord be with you.
ALL (except NicDevil): May He also be with you.
MATT: Let us pray.
ERIC: God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, I appeal to your holy name, humbly begging your kindness, that you graciously grant me help against this and every unclean spirit now tormenting this creature of yours; through Christ our Lord.
ALL (except NicDevil): Amen.

NICOLE'S MIND
Now both of Nicole's arms were free. She was actively trying to untie her legs.
DEVIL: No! Stop!
The Devil had decreased in size. Where only shortly ago, he was eight feet tall, he now stood at only six feet.
NICOLE: I don't think so, Lucifer.
DEVIL: No! I command you...
NICOLE: You can command me all you like, but I won't obey. I no longer serve you. i only serve the true God.
The Devil fell to his knees.
DEVIL: This...is not the end. This...cannot be...the end!
NICOLE: I think it is, though. It is the end. The end of you keeping me prisoner.
The ropes dropped. Nicole stood in front of the Devil, looking down on him.
NICOLE: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
ERIC: I cast you out, unclean spirit, along with every Satanic power of the enemy, every spectre from hell, and all your fell companions; in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Eric made the sign of the cross.
MATT: Begone and stay far from this creature of God.
Father Matt made the sign of the cross.
ERIC: For it is He who commands you, He who flung you headlong from the heights of heaven into the depths of hell. It is He who commands you, He who once stilled the sea and the wind and the storm. Hearken, therefore, and tremble in fear, Satan, you enemy of the faith, you foe of the human race, you begetter of death, you robber of life, you corrupter of justice, you root of all evil and vice; seducer of men, betrayer of the nations, instigator of envy, font of avarice, fomentor of discord, author of pain and sorrow. Why, then, do you stand and resist, knowing as you must that Christ the Lord brings your plans to nothing? Fear Him, who in Isaac was offered in sacrifice, in Joseph sold into bondage, slain as the paschal lamb, crucified as man, yet triumphed over the powers of hell. (The three signs of the cross which follow are traced on the brow of the possessed person). Begone, then, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Eric made the sign of the cross after each of the members of the Trinity.
MATT: Give place to the Holy Spirit by this sign of the holy cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
Father Matt made the sign of the cross when mentioning the cross.
ALL (except NicDevil): Amen.
NicDevil's screams were now unbearibly loud, her body convulsing and shaking violently.

Chapter 63

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
ERIC: And now, the Canticle of Our Lady
MATT: "My soul extols the Lord;
ALL (except NicDevil): And my spirit leaps for joy in God my Savior.
ERIC: : How graciously He looked upon His lowly maid! Oh, see, from this hour onward age after age will call me blessed!
ALL (except NicDevil): How sublime is what He has done for me, the Mighty One, whose name is `Holy'!
MATT: From age to age He visits those who worship Him in reverence.
ALL (except NicDevil): His arm achieves the mastery: He routs the haughty and proud of heart.
ERIC: He puts down princes from their thrones, and exalts the lowly;
ALL (except NicDevil): He fills the hungry with blessings, and sends away the rich with empty hands.
MATT: He has taken by the hand His servant Israel, and mercifully kept His faith,
ALL (except NicDevil): As He had promised our fathers with Abraham and his posterity forever and evermore.
ERIC: Glory be to the Father.
ALL (except NicDevil): As it was in the beginning. Magi from the East came to Bethlehem to adore the Lord; and opening their treasure chests they presented Him with precious gifts: Gold for the great King, incense for the true God, and myrrh in symbol of His burial. Alleluia.
Eric sprinkled Holy Water on himself, NicDevil, who was still in a fit of rage, and the others in the room.
ERIC: Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth As it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation.
ALL (except NicDevil): But deliver us from evil.

NICOLE'S MIND
Nicole stood in front of the Devil as he lie on the floor, writhing and screaming in pain.
NICOLE: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
DEVIL: No! Stop! It burns!
The light grew evermore brighter.
NICOLE: It's over, Lucifer. You've lost.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang. Nicole had shut her eyes. She could hear the Devil's screams and wails of pain. When she opened her eyes, she could no longer hear the Devil nor see him. There was an almost blinding light. The only thing she could see was a giant wooden cross.

Oh no Nicole!!! I hope she is OK!!!!

I'm hoping the cross she is seeing is the one Eric is holding over her. If so, she might be coming out of her mind and back into her entire body.
