ADDRESS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN

Philip drives himself and Chloe in their rental car to the address Mrs. Jones gave them.

Philip: You wait in the car.
Chloe: I will not.
Philip: This could be dangerous.
Chloe: If my son is in that apartment, I need to be there too.
Philip: Chloe ...
Chloe: This isn’t up for discussion, Philip. Let’s go.
They get out of the car and walk up the outside steps of the 2-story brick building.
Philip: Stay behind me.
Chloe: I’m behind you all the way.
Philip approaches the window of the apartment and looks inside.
Philip: Uh oh.
Chloe: What? What do you see?
Philip: Nothing. It looks deserted.
Philip tries the door handle and it opens. He and Chloe go inside.
Philip: Looks like the place has been stripped.
Chloe: What does that mean?
Philip: Someone tipped them off. They knew we were coming and they took off.
Chloe: No.
Philip: I’m going to have a look around, see if I can find any clues.
He goes into another room as Chloe looks around the living room. She spies a small stuffed bunny lying in the corner of the room and picks it up. She holds it against her face as tears roll out of her eyes. Philip comes back into the living room.
Chloe: He was here. My sweet baby boy was here.
Philip puts his arms around her and comforts her.
Philip: This isn’t over. They can run, but we’re going to find them.

I was right. They were gone before Philip and Chloe could get there. I wonder what the next move Victor and Kate are going to make. Boy when they find Parker and what Kate and Victor had done I would not want to be Kate or Victor. Philip is going to me more then angry. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch. Will be anxously awaiting toworrows chapter.

I have tears in my eyes. I cannot imagine dealing with losing a child. I feel heartbroken for Chloe.
Hopefully they will get a break in the case soon!

Chapter 13

NORTH END APARTMENT IN BELIZE
 
Gus: The child has cabin fever, Madam! It’s not healthy for a child to be indoors all the time.
Vivian: Thank you Dr. Spock!
Gus: Oh fine, another code name. It’s hard enough to remember to call the child William. I was just getting used to calling him Wesley instead of Parker and you go and change his name again.
Vivian: Good grief Gus. You are giving me a migraine.


BACK AT THE WEST END APARTMENT

Chloe: What now?
Philip: Now, we wait.
Chloe: Do you really think the landlord from that apartment is going to call you?
Philip: I gave him a nice carrot and told him there’s more where that came from. If he has information about where the people holding Wesley went, I think he’ll tell us.
Chloe: So Wesley is being held captive ...
Philip: ... Being taken care of by ...
Chloe: A man and a woman. A younger man and an older woman. Knowing that sort of makes them human. I hope they’re treating him well.
Philip: You said he was a really good baby. I’m sure there’s no reason they wouldn’t treat him well. Look, I’ve got some emails to answer. Why don’t you call Daniel and let him know what’s going on. I’m sure he’s anxious to hear some news.
Chloe: Oh. Um. I don’t think so.
Philip: Why not?
Chloe: I’ll call him when we find Wesley.
Philip: Hopefully we’ll hear something tomorrow.


MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

Philip is sleeping shirtless on the sofa when a noise wakes him up. He raises his head and listens for the noise again. He realizes that the sound is Chloe crying. He goes into her bedroom. He watches her sleeping for a moment and has a strange vision of seeing curtains on fire. He shakes himself and sits down on the bed. He rubs her arm.

Philip: Don’t cry, Chloe.
Chloe: Philip! You’re here!
She springs up and throws her arms around him.
Philip: Of course I’m here. Where else would I be?
Chloe: I’m scared. Could you stay with me? Please.
Philip: Sure.
He gets into the bed and lies down beside Chloe. She lays her head on his chest and listens to the sound of his heartbeat. He hesitantly puts his arm around her, and has an odd feeling of being so comfortable and yet so uncomfortable at the same time.
Philip: Is that better?
Chloe: Much better.
After a while, Philip and Chloe fall asleep. Somewhere during the night, in his sleep, Philip puts his arms around Chloe from behind her. She wakes up when she feels his hands exploring her body. She turns around to face him and he wakes up.
Philip: Oh my god. I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize ...
Chloe puts her index finger over Philip’s mouth to silence him.
Chloe: Shhh. Don’t talk.

She moves closer to him until her lips are touching his. Before they know it, they are wrapped in a warm and passionate kiss.

Thanks for the chapter Kpatch. I know others are happy about Philip and Chloe getting closer. I was rooting for Mel and Philip to remain together. I just love the way that Philip and Chloe juast fell back into each others arms like that. If only it was an eight day week. We would have another chapter tomorrow. Can we have some previews this weekend? Pretty please with a cherry on top and a hug and kiss.
