So. Do you, or don't you? I admit, yes I do read spoilers. And I am thinking, why do I? Isn't it much better to be surprised when someone new comes along, or an old someone comes back? Big plots coming up might be more interesting...had I NOT read the spoiler! Maybe it's like a birthday present or Christmas. You just CANNOT wait to find out what happens. I think the spoilers whether they be right or wrong sets us up for a let down. Sometimes the spoiler plots happen, and it's not like we picture. Or it just doesn't happen at all. (Which can be a good thing at times!)

I'm guilty. I read them. I am more curious than anything so I have to read them.

I often think that I shouldn't read them because nothing is ever a surprise. I want my Christmas and birthday presents to be surprises by the way. Even before I started checking out Days sites on line, SOD pretty much gave away any major stories that were coming. I can't not look at soap magazines though. I use to sneak them into the grocery cart when I was in junior high! LOL There were a lot more of them back then too.

I look at it this way- Spoilers can give you an idea of what's coming, but there's nothing like seeing how it unfolds on screen. The spoilers only give you half the story anyway. The actors add so much to the story. And sometimes the spoilers are misleading anyway.

@dd, that's very true. Spoilers give you a general idea of the direction, but as you said, things don't always turn out the way you think they will.
As for the thread question (great one, Tex!), I was spoiler free for the first umpteen years of Days existence, and usually it wasn't the viewer that was kept in the dark ... it was a character that was kept in the dark and you just kept waiting for them to find out the truth. Nowadays, there's so much information available that if you are as attuned to Days as we are, just by virtue of visiting sites like this one, you are bound to find out what's coming up, whether you want to or not.

I don't read spoilers (except casting news), and I think it might be why I'm a lot less disenchanted with the show than people on the boards I visit. Even when it's not good, it's like... "Oh, I didn't know that was coming," so there's an element of surprise. I really recommend going spoiler-free for a month or two. It brings you back to that whole idea of just watching to see what happens tomorrow, even if what happens tomorrow is completely idiotic.

I am one of those if it's there I am gonna read it type people. As a kid I would sneek my Christmas presents into another room and open them just to see what they were. One year my parents got me a gumball machine that the cat ripped the paper on (I swear!) so they took the gumball machine out and put in dish soap instead. But yet I didn't find out the sex of my children when I was pregnant. Go figure.

I tend to read it if it's there,as another poster said.I think it's just because I can get so busy that I want to know whether it's worth watching when I have the time,There are days when I put the show on,but it stays on mute for most of the episode. On the days that I deem worth watching,I make sure to have most everything done,if not absolutely everything, that way I can make the time to watch. So yeah,I think spoilers for people who are very busy are a good idea. For those who can make the time maybe spoilers wouldn't be so important?I dunno....

I read spoilers. I love finding out what's coming next. Part of it is necessity because sometimes I get behind on episodes, what with a pre-schooler and a newborn and all of life's random interruptions. Part of it is finding sites like this one and SS that have just amazing people and I love the atmosphere of these sites and want to be a part of it all, even the spoiler discussions. Part of it is that I share the info with a friend who also watches Days and I like having info that she doesn't have time to read for herself.

@ Delina, you reminded me of something and that is time pressures. Reading ghoulgirl's precaps of the next day's episodes and spoilers in general let me know what I'm missing if I decide to fast-forward through parts of the show that don't really interest me.

I read the spoilers. I think half out of habit (from my pre-DVR days) and the other half b/c I like to know what's coming. I love seeing how something unfolds on screen. And, some days, I won't have time to watch, so I read them to see if there's something interesting going on so I don't miss key elements.

I like checking out GG's summary and knowing who will be on the episode. I don't always read all of it but it's nice to know which characters are interacting that day. As some of you pointed out, in case you miss the show or just part of it you can catch up here. There are scenes I missed running downstairs to switch loads of wash.

Spoil all the way for me. I am so bad with that stuff. If I am reading a book i have to read the last chapter first. I search the web all the time for spoilers for all the shows I watch. Husband can't stand it lol

I never thought of that GG! I am a Gossip Girl junkie so are there spoilers for these sorts of shows out there? Don't laugh at me...I know that I am twice the age of the desired demographic for that show! I can't help it...I love Chuck and Blair!!

LOL I have watched only season one so far. I bought season two and three of gossip girl just the other day, but haven't watched it yet. I can't wait. I haven't looked up spoilers for that show, but I read anything, episode summaries of shows I haven't seen yet because I don't usually follow shows until there are a few season out and then I always buy them on DVD and watch like 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 seasons in a row of the same show because I don't have the patience to watch it on the TV and wait week by week. LOL I am crazy.
