What types of fan fiction stories do you like to read? Or write?
You can vote for as many choices as you like.

I find I like almost all fan fics except the ones with an all unknown cast. I prefer to know the characters ahead of time. They can throw in a new one here & there but that's about it.

I enjoy reading fan fics. Often the authors make me like a character that I don't care for on the air.
I like AU fics. It's fun to see the characters I enjoy in a new setting or time period. And they aren't tied to the characters' on air history.
I also like seeing a resolution or answer for an on air storyline that was dropped or had an abrupt unsatisfying ending.
I enjoy reading new stories for my favorite characters. An interesting back story or future story is fun too.

Great poll idea, fluffysmom. I chose almost every option. I've never read a fic about a couple that never dated on air, so I don't know how I'd feel about it. I guess it would depend on the couple. As for writing, I like writing about my favorite couple most, but I've written for lots couples, even those who are not favorites. Philip and Chloe inspire me most and I like to re-envision their stories that originally sprang from canvas. My favorite backstory that I wrote was a Love Affair to Remember featuring a young Victor and Caroline. That was fun. I have in mind a backstory for Kate that I plan to flesh out in the future. Lately I have been delving into Alternate Universe fics, and that's a lot of fun for me because you are really free from the constraints of Salem. I could be writing about any characters in the world, but I definitely draw my inspiration from the Days characters. Without them, I'd just be a girl with a pen. LOL.

As a reader I have a type. I can read a story about almost any character as long as they fit into that type...tortured bad boys, spunky smart women, bad girls with hearts of gold, brooding gray knights...as long as that is covered I can read the story.
As a writer I enjoy the same types of characters. I find it harder to write fanfiction than straight from my head fiction because the characters are already formed, so I tend to only write about a select few characters - the most beloved. Days is not my favorite soap/show at all, but ironically I have been inspired to write the most by it, and because of that it holds a special place in my heart.
I have never written a truly AU fanfic, I wouldn't mind trying that one day. I always want to pluck Philip up from Salem and send him to Port Charles or beyond.
