Uh oh, better get Midol (Read 795 times)

So. We have seen yet another Midol commercial on Days.
How do you think Jen and Abby pulled it off? I don't care too much for product placement like this, or mini commercials. (Don't we see ENOUGH commercials as it is???) BUT. I think they did a lot better than past actresses. It really wasn't all that awkward to me, and it actually set up Abby going to the pharmacy and running into Carly AKA Katerina Von Lueshner filling a prescription! (How did that pharmacist NOT hear Abby call her DR. MANNING???!!)

So...what do ya'll think of the latest product placement?

I agree with you. U still laughed at the close up and stuff bit I think it was done more naturally then most of them usually are. Plus it added into more then one storyline.

When I read the spoilers, it said Abigail caught Carly writing false prescriptions however I wasn't thinking it would go down the way it did. IMO she didn't catch her doing anything. She caught her picking up a prescription

If we're forced to watch commercials during the show (in order to keep the show on the air) I'm ok with how this one went down today. It's very natural for women to discuss PMS symptoms and for one of them to suggest something for it. We don't usually call it by the full name, but I would totally say "PMS? Try this Midol. It's great!"

At least it wasn't as blatant and out of place as the Wanchi Ferry crap. However, it WAS effective, since we're still talking about it years later! Whenever I see it in the grocery store, I picture Caroline awkwardly holding it and it still makes me giggle.

I've actually bought Wanchai Ferry just because it was so funny! So it sort of worked...

The midol scene wasn't bad. I expected it to be really bad. Have all of the product placement scenes happened at the pub? Midol, Wanchai ferry and cheerios were all there. That's right the nature valley snacks were too. So unless I am forgetting one, they all occured at the pub. Hmmm.

I really didn't have a problem with this product placement.I can totally see myself in a few years time suggesting what I use to my own teenage daughter (we aren't quite there YET!LOL).Now at least I know how to go about it when my daughter reaches the age of PMS,lol.Thanks Jenn and Abby!

A product placement that would make sense on Days would be diapers or pullups. Sami or Chloe could have asked someone to pick up some at the store and mentioned their favorite brand.

@ Mikey, I've bought Wanchai Ferry too since the placement. I had never heard of it before then.

As for the Midol bit, I wish they hadn't done the closeup, but I guess that's part of the agreement with the sponsor. It would have been more natural without seeing the bottle magnified a bezillion times normal size. But it did tie in with the story, and gave Abby a reason to go to the drug store and run into Carly, and that encounter will likely become important down the road.

I understand WHY Days has these product placements. But I agree with all of you who does not like the close up of the product. It's silly. We know what they are talking about. We can SEE the bottle. It's not necessary for us to get an up close and personal view. Excessively distracting. Rant over....

Now that said, I sure like Jennifer and Abby's version better than Arianna and Gabby. I think it was with Gabby...

(One product placement NOT at the pub was the one for Chex Mix. That was between EJ and Sami at the Salem lake/beach whatever. That one was done pretty cutely.)

I do admit, that I'm a fan of Hershey's Bliss now, but only b/c I think of Philip...

The Chex Mix one was hilarious! EJ was all, "What is this Chex Mix you speak of?!" and Sami was overacting so badly and going ON AND ON about how it's like a thousand flavors in your mouth, and then she randomly dumps salad dressing all over EJ's shirt. You could tell the actors thought it was insane, but it's so funny to watch.
