THE CABIN, THAT AFTERNOON
Philip and Chloe did some serious house cleaning, scrubbing floors and walls, tubs and showers, closets and cabinets. Since Chloe didn’t have many clothes at the cabin, she wore Philip’s t-shirt to do housework. Chloe teased Philip mercilessly about his lack of housekeeping prowess. He had grown up with servants and never had to do much housework, and it showed. He was pretty inept when they started, but by the time they were done, he was almost an expert. They had both worked up a sweat and were pretty grungy by the end of the afternoon.
Chloe: Ugh. I’m covered in dirt. Philip: Me too. Chloe: Hmmm, yes, you are. Philip: Why are you looking at me that way? Chloe: It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you all sweaty like that. It’s kind of a turn on. Philip: Really? Chloe: Last time I saw you this sweaty was at halftime during a basketball game you played in high school. Philip smiled and was now having the same flashback. Philip: Remember when I gave you my letterman jacket? Chloe: I was such a dork. I had no idea about the significance until Belle clued me in. ... Sorry, I didn’t mean to bring her up again. Philip: It’s okay. I was grateful that she encouraged you to wear my jacket. Man I was so smitten with you. I guess some things never change. He moved to kiss her. Chloe: Ew, you’re filthy. Don’t come near me. Philip: You know you love it. You just told me it turns you on. He kissed her and they started to get serious. Chloe: Mmm. Wait. How about you holding that thought while I jump in the shower. Philip: We could save water. Shower together. Chloe: Have you seen how small that shower stall is? Philip: Trust me, I’d make it work. Chloe raised an eyebrow. Chloe: I’ll bet you would, soldier. Let me rinse some of this schmutz off first. Philip: Schmutz? What’s that? Is that an Austrian word? Chloe: Give me 10 minutes.

I think the smaller the shower stall the better Philip will make it work. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

THE CABIN
Chloe headed for the stall shower. It was the tiniest stall imaginable; so small that you couldn’t raise your arms without hitting your elbows against the walls. She turned on the water and waited for it to warm up before stepping inside. And waited. And waited. Then she called to Philip in the other room.
Chloe: Philip? The water is cold.
Philip entered the bathroom. He put his hand under the running water. Philip: Okay, and what do you want me to do about it? Chloe: Fix it. Philip: Me? So I guess it’s not enough for me to cook and clean. Now you want me to be a plumber too? Chloe laughed. Philip turned the shower off. Chloe: You’re really exceeding your potential, you know. Philip: Thanks a lot. Be right back.
Philip located the water heater and discovered it was turned off. They had used up any warm water left in the tank when they bathed last night. Philip flipped the heater’s switch to the “on” position thinking “that was easy.” He went back to the bathroom.
Philip: It’ll take a few minutes for the water heater to get going. I stand by my earlier suggestion. We should shower together to make sure we capitalize on the hot water. Chloe smiled. Chloe: If we shower together, chances are it will be a much longer shower than if we took two separate showers. Philip: Are you trying to talk me into it or out of it?

I am not an expert on hot water heaters, but don't the old ones have a gas pilot light? If the light is not lit, it will not heat the water and can the gas just fill up the room and posibly ignite/ explode if a match or such is lit???
