Here's the update:
I'm home, back to work, getting back into my routine.
The doctor told me that if this happens again, I'm going to be admitted straight to the ICU, intubated and they're going to desensitize me to a medication that I'm highly (deadly) allergic to - because that will knock the pneumonia out of me for good. He said I'm making them look bad! LOL
I'm very allergic to Sulfa drugs and there are 2 antibiotics that are Sulfa based that will take care of it. So, if I don't do this, it will kill me. If I do - do this, it may kill me. I'll take the possible over the probable.
I'm good right now (I hope). They sent me home on 5 antibiotics (all oral - no more IVs). Just really tired.

Wow. So sorry to hear that! Hopefully it works!
Sucks to go home on orals though. IV meds work faster through the system!
My thoughts any prayers are still with you my friend! Please keep us updated!

So glad you are feeling better and are back home. I, too, am allergic to Sulfa, but had no idea it was the basis for some antibiotics. Yikes! When I was a kid I thought I was allergic to SULFUR, and in North Florida we have a TON of sulfur water all around (it smells like rotten eggs). Most everybody's sprinklers spray sulfur water, and I used to think if I ran through it, I would die. Ha ha!

Being allergic to something is not funny, but I did have to laugh at that DD. Reminded me of when I was little. I was overly hyper as a kid so my mom took me for an allergy test at the recommendation of my Doctor. turns out I had 27 allergies for different things, but instead of the regular allergic reactions I would get hyper instead., except for my reaction to bee's and hornets. I could possibly die if stung again (i was attacked by a swarm of them when I was about four and suffered over 100 stings!!!)....anywho, point being, (I think I was about 8 or 9 around this time) The doctor gave my mom these pills for me to take. I was under the impression somehow that I had to take these huge pills because if a bee or hornet came near me they would smell some kind of scent from them and it would discourage them from going anywhere near me. My mom and I called them the bee pills. Anyway, I was talking to my mom about 6 months or so ago and I asked her if she remembered when I took those B pills. She said yes but why would I want to know about that? I told her what I remembered and she started laughing her butt off at me. Turns out I was taking B12 supplements! HA HA HA HA I have no idea in the world why I would have thought they would do that to the bees....turn them away from a scent? I would like to know where I came up with that one. But here, 20ish years later and I still believed that is what I was taking!

@peggy, I'm so sorry to hear of all that you've been going through but glad to hear you are better and will pray for your continued recovery. @dd & GG Sulfa and sulfur do sound a lot like esp. for a little kid... and as a kid I would have probably come up with a similar theory about the bees because I would have thought they were like misquitos. People light citronella candles, rub on skin-so-soft oil and take garlic pills to keep the misquitos away from them ... so I can understand how a kid could have assumed that the medicine they were taking made them smell bad to bees so they wouldn't want to come around them.
