Chapter 20 SALEM PLACE Nicole and Mia were now sitting down on a bench. NICOLE: So, what's the scoop? MIA: I'm trying to get Chad back the same way that you got most men you wanted, by lying and scheming. But, for some reason, it's not working. NICOLE: That's because you're not a pro yet. I've had years of experience. Trust me, it takes time. MIA: I'm willing to learn. NICOLE: Well, I suppose I could teach you. MIA: Woukd you? Please? That would be great! NICOLE: Sure. We'll start now. Nicole and Mia got up. MIA: Where are we going? NICOLE: The bar. MIA: I'm not 21 yet. NICOLE: I know. But they don't. Besides, we're going there to get guys, not drinks. Come on. |

Chapter 21 CHEATIN' HEART Mia and Nicole were walking in. MIA: This isn't gonna work. NICOLE: Sure it will. You did fine at the one we just left. MIA: I chatted up the wrong guy. NICOLE: How's that? MIA: He's not interested in girls. NICOLE: How were you supposed to know that? MIA: I don't feel well. NICOLE: Really? You've only had two. MIA: Apparently two is too much. Now that Nicole thought about it, Mia was looking a bit pale. And she had been stumbling ever since they left the first bar. Nicole sighed. NICOLE: All right. Come on, I'll take you home. But, we're gonna get you your man one of these days. O'HAIRE AIRPORT Melanie and Vic were sitting in a terminal, waiting for their plane. MELANIE: Thanks for coming with me. VIC: You're welcome. I've always wanted to go to Europe. Plus, being able to spend time with you is a great bonus. Melanie blushed. MELANIE: Thanks. You're really sweet. I just have one question. VIC: What is it? MELANIE: It's when you ask someone for information, but that's not important right now. What is important is what I need to ask you, VIC: Okay. What do you need to ask me? MELANIE: How come when you first came back to Salem you were riding in all-black and being really secretive? |

Not quit, jkjpatch and fluffy. What she does need is to lie down and sleep. Basically, it's her first time at a bar. She's with Nicole. She's had too much to drink, basically.
And, the reason for Vic's Dark/Cool Rider persona will be revealed tomorrow.

VIC: It was part of it. MELANIE: True. VIC: The clothes are just your standard motorcycle gear. They don't come in many colors, and I can't really pull off pink. Melanie laughed a little. MELANIE: Okay. Go on. VIC: And the secrecy, well, I was really only secretive around you. MELANIE: Yeah, but why? VIC: Because of Philip. My parents told me about him. That I looked like him. And that you two used to be together. That's why, at first, I was hesitant to show you my face. I wanted you to like me. I didn't want you to either dislike me because I looked like him or like me more because I look like him. MELANIE: I gotcha. But, just so you know, that would never happen. Me liking or disliking you because you look like Philip. And I do like you, Vic. I like you for who you are. Melanie and Vic both smiled and then kissed. ATTENDENT (VO, over PA): Ladies and gentlemen, we will now begin boarding flight 867 with non-stop service from Chicago O'Haire to Heathrow London... |
