Chapter 10 OUTSIDE SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL Since returning to Salem, Melanie had gotten her job back as a nurse at Salem hospital. She was just getting off her shift. Suddenly, a motorcycle pulled up in front of her. For the first time, Melanie got a good look at it. It was black cherry in color. Before, Melanie had thought it was just black, but she could now see that it was dark red with sparkles in it. COOL RIDER: Miss? Melanie looked at the cyclist. It was him. The same man she had seen outside the Brady Pub on her first night back. She could tell by the voice. And because he had his vizer up just enough so she could see his mouth. MELANIE (thinking): Oh my god, those dimples! COOL RIDER: How about that ride? Without another word, Melanie jumped onto the back of the bike. The cyclist started the bike up and revved it's engine. Melanie got a chill down her spine. COOL RIDER: Hold on tight. Melanie put her arms around the cyclist's waist. The engine revved again and they started off. SALEM PLACE Will was sitting at one of the tables. Mia walked over, sat down acros fromWill, and handed him a picture. MIA: There you go. Will looked at the picture. He put it back down on the table. WILL: I don't believe it. MIA: What? WILL: This picture's a fake. |

Chapter 11 SALEM PLACE WILL: This picture's a fake. MIA: What? Of course it's not. Why would you say that? WILL: The baby looks nothing like me or you. MIA: It doesn't necessarily have to. WILL: There's a Walmart logo at the bottom. MIA: That's where I had the photos developed. WILL: This exact photo came with a picture frame my mom got last year. MIA: Impossible. WILL: Mia, stop playing games! There is no baby! And there is no way that I'm gonna help you steal my sister! MIA: You are tearing me apart, William! WILL: Stop paraphrasing The Room and just get over the fact that it's over. Goodbye. Will walked away. A few minutes later, Chad walked up. CHAD: Mia? MIA: Chad. Mia got a devious smile on her face. FIELD Melanie and her motorcyclist had been riding all evening. Melanie was loving it! After a while, they stopped in the middle of a field and the Cool Rider was holding Melanie. COOL RIDER: There's something I have to tell you. Melanie smiled. MELANIE: What? COOL RIDER: It's about who I am. Melanie sat up. MELANIE: Who are you? The Cool Rider took off his helmet and goggles. Melanie was shocked! MELANIE: No. Oh no. Not you. |
