The actress behind Kristen Blake will return to the veteran NBC soap opera in October.

NBC's Days of Our Lives is welcoming back another fan favorite.

Eileen Davidson, who last appeared as Kristen Blake in April 1998, will return to the long-running soap opera,The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

Davidson will reprise the character she played from 1993-98 starting Oct. 11. Kristen, the foster daughter of Stefano DiMera, was presumed dead after a dead body matching her description was found floating in a pool. The real Kristen, however, was left on an island after being sold to a harem.

"I'm thrilled to embark on this new adventure at Days and excited to revisit Kristen and who knows who else! Not to mention my old friends in the cast and crew," Davidson told THR, with a nod to the many alter egos she's taken on over the years on the series.

Davidson, who had been playing Ahsley Abbott on The Young & the Restless, becomes the latest Days fan favorite to return to the soap. Kristian Alfonso inked a new deal to remain in her role as Hope in May; Charles Shaughnessy and Lisa Rinna also returned to the series earlier this year.

Davidson is repped by Media Artists Group and Blain & Associates.

Soaps Scoop: Eileen Davidson Returning to Days of Our Lives

It’s official: Eileen Davidson is headed back to Days of Our Lives.

The suds vet will reprise her role on the NBC soap as Kristen Blake, (erstwhile) Big Bad Stefano DiMera’s foster daughter, TVLine has confirmed. She’s set to rejoin the series beginning Oct. 11.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the casting news.

Davidson’s villainous alter-ego — and her alter’s many alters — were last seen on Days in 1998 when she was presumed dead via drowning. However, in true soap fashion, Kristen had actually been stranded on an island.

The actress’ return to Salem comes on the heels of her shocking ouster from CBS’ The Young and the Restless, where she has portrayed Genoa City’s beloved Ashley Abbott on and off since 1986.

It's Official! Eileen Davidson Returning To 'Days of our Lives'

The biggest secret that's not really a secret is out! Soap vet and fan favorite Eileen Davidson returning to 'Days of our Lives'!

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed exclusively today that the actress will be playing Kristen Blake upon her return. "I'm thrilled to embark on this new adventure at Days at excited to revisit Kristen and who knows who else! Not to mention my old friends in the cast and crew," said the actress to THR.

In May, after rumors began to spread that she was leaving The Young and the Restless, the actress confirmed she was fired by tweeting, "Last week I lost my childcare. This week I lost my job! It all works out because I don't need a babysitter if I'm not working." Surprisingly, no official reason was given for her termination.

Though reports of the actress' inevitable return have been rumored since her firing in May, it was actually Nelson Branco's Soap Uncensored that broke the news its June 26 issue (Issue 26, No. 34). In it, Soap Uncensored reported, "At first, Sony wanted Davidson on both DAYS and Y&R. However sources say that the Y&R writing team refused to share Davidson with DAYS and forced Sony to make a decision, ultimately leading to her Y&R firing." The actress previously played Kristen Blake from 1993-1998. During her tenure at DAYS, Davidson earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for playing five characters (Kristen, Susan, Sister Mary Moira, Thomas and Penelope).

Davidson was also let go in 2006 by then-executive producers Lynn Marie Latham and Josh Griffith. She would go on to join sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful from 2007-2008 before returning to Y&R in the summer of 2008.

Davidson Returns To DAYS!

Eileen Davidson (Ashley) will soon make her exit from THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS... and head right over to DAYS OF OUR LIVES, where she'll reprise the role of Kristen Blake. According to an exclusive report in The Hollywood Reporter, the fan favorite will reprise the character (and perhaps some of the others!) she played on the NBC soap from 1993-'98 starting October 11.

In addition to the role of Stefano's adopted daughter, Kristen, Davidson also played the roles of siblings Susan Banks, Penelope Kent, Thomas Banks and Sister Mary Moira Banks on the NBC soap. "I'm thrilled to embark on this new adventure at Days and excited to revisit Kristen and who knows who else! Not to mention my old friends in the cast and crew," Davidson told THR.

As first hinted at in the 5/21 issue and reported by Digest in the 5/28 issue, Eileen Davidson (Ashley, Y&R) is heading back to DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Kristen Blake, EJ's adopted sister. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that she first appears on October 11; she is already in scripts. Davidson played the role from 1993-98 (and also played four other roles: Susan Banks, Sister Mary Moira, Thomas and Penelope Kent).

What really is the point of Kristen coming back? With Stefano and Lexie gone, she really doesn't have any family. I don't believe Kristen ever had any interaction with EJ so I don't think she would be there to console him. I guess I just don't see why they are bringing her back unless the phoenix is going to rise again.

And, honestly, I'm not really happy about it. There are so many other characters who they could weave into the story, like Shawn D., Belle, Steve, Dr. Mike, Phil, and Chloe... (just to name a few).

And yes they need more bad guys in Salem...well not bad but gray. The town is dull and whitewashed. EJ is the only one left with any moral ambiguity.

No matter how hard I try, I just can't get excited over this. Guess I will just have to wait & see what kind of angst (if any) comes with her.

If Susan coming back means more John & Marlena & gasping scenes - leave Ashley in Genoa City (Y&R) PLEASE!!!
