Oof. This one really hurts. I’ve always liked John, and a lot of that had to do with Drake’s portrayal.

I just saw this as I was going to bed. John has been one of my favorite characters since he began on the show in the '80s as The Pawn/Roman. Drake had great chemistry with everyone he was paired with, whether romantic partners or onscreen family members.

And even though it was clear he had some sort of physical ailment the last few months, his loss comes as quite a shock.

This one hurts.

I'm so sad. I met Drake Hogestyn in 2007. I won tickets to a small private event before a larger event. He was so nice. I have a picture of him holding my daughter Sami when she was a baby.

If Drake has passed away, I wonder if this means Days of our Lives kills off John Black for good? And if they do, I wonder if Days goes all out for John's funeral? You would have to have his children Brady, Belle and Paul at his funeral along with his step children Eric and Sami and his grandchildren Tate, Rachel, Will, Johnny, Sydney, Allie, Claire, Jude, Ari, Henry, etc all at his funeral

I wonder where Marlena goes from here once John passes?

I believe this is the story Allison Sweeney returned for. And Christie Clark was rumoured too. Should air in April

This got to me. I loved them.

Both Staci and Genie Francis posted about how much they loved him, 30 years on. The cast tributes are very moving and shows how much he meant to everyone he touched

Yeah, this is a real shocker. I have heard rumblings about his health on Twitter but I didn't want to believe it. 70 is way too young. Poor Deidre must be devastated right now. It's horrible that he had to suffer like that for the last several months of his life and I hope he rests in peace and is free from suffering and pain now. May his memory be eternal.

I thought that maybe this story might revolve around Roman but now I can't help but wonder if it's actually about John? Maybe Days might be planning an exit story for John soon?

Yeah the story is for John's exit, not Roman. Rex threw me off but apparently he is back for something else.

In the clips I had seen of him lately he did not look well. This is tough for sure. He had such a good run on DOOL.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his beloved family, friends and cast and crew and fans who loved him. We all noticed there was something up, we just weren't sure.

It's been hard losing Bill Hayes this year and now Drake Hogestyn.... Days of Days is going to be even more emotional. Pray we don't lose any else in our tv family. Our hearts can't take it.
