Paulina enters EJ’s office and tells him he’s fired because she received a citizen’s complaint about his involvement with Sloan in kidnapping the baby. He assumes the complaint came from Nicole or Eric. She lets him know it was Stefan. He denies denies denies and tells her Stefan just wants revenge because he slept with Stefan’s wife. He makes a case for not being fired. It’s just hearsay motivated by vengeance and Paulina is the one who will look foolish. Paulina wants to hire Melinda back. He tells her rumor has it that Melinda left town.

That is what Stefan called in about? EJ had no involvement with kidnapping that baby. He covered up the paternity when the baby was legally his child. There was no legal crime, just a moral one.
Was EJ even fired by the end of the scene? It was not clear. But if this frees him to kick Kristen out of Dimera I'm all for it

I just love that Paulina feels:
1- it's totally okay to fire someone without a proper investigation 2- it's totally okay to fire someone for kidnapping complaint and wants to rehire the person who is actually responsible for kidnapping 3- it's totally okay to not branch out and screen other candidates (or even outsource another DA)
She should be fired for negligence and poor business practices.
