Leo is reading Kimberly’s book on DID and thinks it describes Marlena and calls to see her right away. Leo is still reading Kim’s book when Hattie shows up to discuss the script. He tells her that bad dialogue is the least of her problems. He knows she has D.I.D. She wants to know if that is a venereal disease. Leo is frustrated and says, “I am trying to help you Dr. Evans.” Hattie says she is NOT Dr. Evans.

Leo is trying to convince a very confused Hattie that she is one of Marlena’s alter egos and pulls her to the door to take her to Bayview. He opens the door & Kate is there. Kate informs Leo that Hattie is not Marlena’s alter but her doppelganger. Leo apologies for trying to have Hattie committed. Hattie is glad that he realizes she is sane. Kate hires Leo to be Body & Soul’s head writer and leaves. Leo is happy and so is Hattie. Now he can fix her script.

I have come to a conclusion. And I wish the show will as well. I don't want to speculate on the health of the actor who plays John but I will leave him out of the equation for now. More on that in a moment.

It is rather simple. While Hattie isn't a marvel, she is a tolerable silly goose with a low-income working-class sway (a pleasant diversion from the usual rich jerks who populate Salem) and her pep and enthusiasm despite being a bit wayward is welcome in my book. OK maybe she is a parody of a working class type similar to the "Target Lady" but this "Bowling Alley Hattie" gives the show a vaguely amusing lower class individual.

Her misunderstanding of Leo's scattershot DID diagnosis was a riot. Best line of the day was when she thought he was talking about a "venereal disease."

Thankfully Kate cleaned things up before Leo ruined the poor lady.

Kate's snide asides are always welcome.

Back to my conclusion. Days just DO IT! Get RID of Marlena for GOOD. Here is their chance. Same actor. Let her play Hattie and be done with it. No harm no foul. They keep the hallowed Diedre Hall, and we can all move on.

Marlena the cold bore has served so little purpose the past two years it is time to put her out to pasture.

I applaud this idea horizon. I would tolerate Hattie forever over Cold Fish Doc and her sad sack husband. And I never want to see them slobber over strawberries again.
