I've been wondering - do the stars of online soaps (Venice, The Bay) get paid for being on there? Or do they just do it for fun? How do they get money anyway? They do and I think they get more by doing something online vs doing an actual soap. Alot of Days stars are on Venice to make extra money and to further their careers. I don't know how they get paid, but I do know they get paid

Who knows what can happen if they make a better off then. I'm glad to know she wasn't happy w/ her storyline last time around b/c I hated it too. I don't blame her for being leary. BUT - I love my Phloe and I will keep hoping for their return.

Maura West an actress from As The World Turns gave an interview to Michael Fairman once and said that all you get is a free lunch for doing an online soap.

Susan Lucci wouldn't do AMC online bc they pay was bad and bc it was online and not on tv. Who really knows!!! lol!!! I wouldn't be doing something like that for free food. I would have to get paid for it with money!!

If they don't get paid for doing the shows online, they must get money for people buying the dvd's because Venice makes alot of money from people buying all the seasons. Nadia has a great following with Venice. Alot of the fans that would come and see her at fan events were there bc they loved her character on Venice.

I still can't imagine it being very profitable for them. Even if the sales for the DVD's are good the money has to be divided between not only the actors, but the writers, directors, and all the crew. I seriously doubt that they make that much money.

I think for right now at least that the major draw to online soaps or series is exposure and also creativity. I think they can pretty much do anything they want on Venice without having to worry about censorship and they also don't have to worry as much about ratings so they can tell the stories they want w/o having to switch directions b/c ratings are down like we see happening on Days. I do think they get paid and I'm sure it depends on the success of the show. When Venice first aired the episodes were like six minutes long and it gradually got longer, I think b/c they saw there was demand.

I think the main reason for doing online soaps is for the creative freedom. And while they do get paid I don't think it is necessarily enough to live off of or be your primary source of income.

Cuddos to them for doing an online soap because I never would. I love Nadia, but I can't watch Venice. I don't agree with the storylines.
