Phillip comes to see Chloe to check on her after the truth about Sarah’s baby comes out. She admits she is not okay, but she will be. She finds out that Rex & Sarah did get married and confirms that she and Xander will not be getting married. She admits that what they had was real, but he still had unresolved feelings for Sarah. Phillip wants to know how much of the conversation between Rex & Phillip she overheard, and she says she heard enough to know that Phillip might still be in love with her.
Phillip feels that after what he did to Brady, she might never love him again. She admits that when she thought he was dead, that a part of her died too. The part of her that once loved him, came back to life when she realized he was still alive. He wants to know if she still has feelings for him or if this is just a reaction to Xander & Sarah. She admits that she has had these feelings for a while and sees how much he has changed. He promises that he will always be there for her and leave.

I hate everything. This is so badly done and rushed and unfair to Philip who went to get help for his obsession with her. The show is mishandling this and it's getting on my nerves.

I find JPL's darting eyes every time he speaks nearly unwatchable.
I do not understand why Philip left. He's been waiting for decades for Chloe to say what she said to him today--and so have I! Why would he leave?

In one breath, Chloe says what she and Xander had was real, and in the next breath, she says she realized that she still loves Philip. If only we'd seen her mourning his death instead of jumping into bed with Brady before Philip's supposedly dead body was cold, then this might ring true. The way it was portrayed, it falls flat, and believe me I hate saying that. Maybe that's why Philip left. Because Chloe seems too fickle and like she can't handle being alone for two seconds.

I liked the idea of these scenes, and I think it could've worked very well spread over even 2 or 3 weeks. But I have whiplash from how fast this moved!
I think it's supposed to show growth and healing on Philip's part that he left rather than pounce on any sign of hope from Chloe, but it's just moving at warp-speed. Frankly, they could've told this entire story with Chloe and Xander being anywhere close to marriage.

It would have been way more effective if Chloe was struggling to squelch her feelings for Philip now that he's back among the living and she's committed to Xander. Then her warp-speed confession to Philip would have had some weight to it.

I'm not sure I buy Chloe's confession of love to Philip. She goes from crying about it being over with Xander to crying about how a piece of her died when she thought Philip died and then it coming back to life when he did. It felt flat and rushed and a way to get to Philip's emotions. It seemed more like it was a rebound proclamation for her instead of this "great love" that they supposedly have. All I could think of was that it was more like a love spell kind of thing where the next person you see is who you fall for and Philip just happened to be that person.
I'm glad he left when he did. I hope with all of his "changes" that he's realized that he deserves more than to be a 2nd choice.
And I agree about JPL's darting eyes. It's like he kept having to look over and read his lines or something. he wasn't focused on Chloe and it kept breaking any sort of mood they were supposed to have between them.

I wish all of this rang true but sadly it doesn't. I agree with mikey that it would have made more sense if it played out over several weeks.
