Justin is stunned and speechless that Alex is Victor’s son. Alex walks in and sees their reaction and inappropriately asks who died. He can tell something is going on. Alex asks about the letter. Maggie leaves them alone to talk. Alex wants to know what’s in the letter. Justin looks like he might throw up. Alex asks if he left the other half to Bo. Or Philip. Justin explains it was his other son, the one no one knew about. Alex is upset that Justin was cut out. Justin tells him it’s him, he’s the other son. He gives him the letter to read. “I’m not your father. Victor is.” Justin explains he never knew this. Alex doesn’t understand why they would keep this a secret. The letter says Angelica thought Justin would feel devastated and betrayed. Justin assures Alex that he’s Justin’s son in every way that counts. Alex isn’t sure what he’s feeling. Everything he thought about who he is, who his father is, who his brother is, is suddenly a lie. Justin is good and honorable and it always gave him hope for himself, but now? Justin states Alex is a good person. Alex hopes he wakes up from this nightmare. He asks to be alone. Justin kisses Alex’s head and leaves. Alex eyes the enlarged photo of Victor and wonders aloud how he can be Alex’s father. Bonnie finds Justin crying and he sobs as she hugs him.

I really felt for Justin and Alex when Alex was leaving the room and Justin held his shoulders and then when Bonnie came in the room Tough emotions. Poor Justin. Alex is his pride and joy. I am hoping that it is not true, and Justin is indeed his father. As Kpatch mentioned it seems way out of character for Victor to conceal his son from him. Makes little sense. I say let Victor rest in peace and stop bothering him Days. And one other thing. This makes Alex Philip's brother. And more ludicrously Bo's bro. Please don't go there.

Wally Kurth is doing an amazing job. I think deep inside, Alex is saying whoopee, I'm the richest man in Salem. As Kpatch mentioned it seems way out of character for Victor to conceal his son from him. Makes little sense. I say let Victor rest in peace and stop bothering him Days. Right? Victor was deprived of knowing Bo and Isabella until they were adults. I don't think he'd make a decision like this--at least not one involving Justin.

I have a theory. It's not a spoiler as I have no insider knowledge, just my theory.
But could the son actually be Xander and not Alex? Xander is short for Alexander or Alexandros. The whole story still makes sense as Xander was raised by Victor's brother, so still raised by family. If Victor had an affair with his brother's wife, would he have given up the son to keep his brother from being hurt. And Xander's father was hard on him, which could have happened because deep down, he knew Xander wasn't his.
Do we know who Xander's mother was? The letter was supposedly from Angelica, but what was Xander's mother's name. And when did Victor first receive this letter? Years ago or now?
Given how hard Victor always was on Xander, that could be reason for him to leave half of his fortune to him as a sort of apology. If this is the case, then Justin and Alex get to have a happy reunion moment as father and son, while Xander comes into real money and power, which seems more interesting to me than Alex as Victor's son.
But this is just a theory. We'll see what really plays out.

I have had the exact same theory since day 1 ProudTVJunkie and I've seen other fans speculate this as well.

The letter was written a few months after Alex's birth. Angelica notes in it that she was glad Victor stopped by after the birth but now that she's had a few months to think it is obvious that it's better for Alex not to know Victor is his father. I'm not sure how it could turn it to be Xander rather than Alex unless Angelica named two sons with the same name. Xander has often said his mother was a drunk, that's all we know about her. I think his father was named Titus. The parallel between Angelica's letter and what Sarah said about not letting Xander know he was Victoria's father was so strong that I can't imagine that won't come into play and now that Xander knows, Maggie will likely point to what's happening with Alex as proof that Sarah's plan was a bad idea. So that's likely a big part of why they wrote this story this way.
