It makes sense that Philip would return for his dad Victor's funeral but I wonder if Bo wakes up from his coma and he ends up at Victor's funeral too because both of Victor's sons need to say goodbye to him
But with Philip back, at least Kate will have another one of her kids in town since Rex is in town and then so will Philip
Plus Philip has history with both Belle and Chloe
But also his nephews Brady and Shawn Douglas who have been rivals for Philip are here too
But the thing is Chloe is with his cousin Xander now, so that takes Philip out of the equation where Chloe is concerned and it isn't like Sarah is a factor especially when she is with Philip's brother Rex now
Other love interests potentially for Philip if he sticks around: Stephanie, Jada, Sloan, Nicole, Gwen

Jpl imo may not be the best actor to play philip, but i'm at least glad the show cared enough to want to bring philip back to say goodbye to victor. I was beginning to think that maybe the show might have made up some excuse for him not being at funeral, like maybe he still wasn't doing so well mentally in bayview and so couldn't return, because he hasn't been talked about in a while. I'm glad my opinion was wrong. I hope philip stays awhile in salem. So much interesting ways this character could be used.

While there is a small part of me that is interested to see how Philip will be written this time around, there is a bigger part of me that is thoroughly disappointed that Jay Kenneth Johnson won’t be returning in the role. Jay is Philip for me. After what TPTB did to Philip in his last stint on the show, they’ll really have to work hard to redeem the character.
