Xander does not believe Gwen at first when she tells him that she slept with Alex. Xander is sure that Alex is using her. Gwen tells him not to confuse her with Sarah. She did not think about Xander when she was with Alex. Gwen is over thinking about Xander. She asks why is Xander here? Did he lie about letting her run the paper?
Gwen learns that Julie’s Place is cancelling their full page ad.
Xander runs into Alex on his way to work. Xander warns him to stay away from Gwen. Alex asks if Xander can’t have her, then no one can? Xander warns the Alex will pay if he hurts Gwen. Alex asks if the clown will kidnap him? Xander knows how Alex treats women. Alex tells him that Gwen is a grown woman and will make her own decisions.
Gwen tells Leo that Alex is not the love of her life. Leo thinks it is perfect that Xander knows. She can use one Kiriakis against another to make Xander suffer.

First, look, I love old 70’s and 80’s shows like Magnum and Three’s Company where the men often walk around with their shirts unbuttoned half-way down their chest. I’m okay with it because that was the style. But this is 2023 and seeing Alex walk around like that- well, it just ain’t right. Where are his gold chains?
Okay, now. Ugh! I hate seeing these two go at it over Gwen of all people. She would be just giddy to see it. I suspect much of it is due to previous resentments. I really don’t like Alex and the way he treats Maggie or Xander, or women in general for that matter. Xander is no Prince for sure but he told Gwen the truth. Honestly, he should just let Gwen occupy her time with Alex and be done with her.

I thought this would happen. But this fight had layers. And a few off comments. One of the best brawls I have seen in recent memory.
I laughed at the part where Gwen was boasting Alex "stuck it to her" to describe their sexual dalliance. Which is exactly what Xander was trying to tell the delusional lady. That Alex just used her like a washcloth.
Gwen was trying to act cool and went on about Xander's ego, but Xander basically knocked her out. Speaking of which I remember how Xander got Gwen to punch him when they were scheming back when. He pulled it out again pretty much saying Gwen can't compare to Sarah. The horror on Gwen's face was palpable.
Then she said she doesn't want him "breathing down her neck" in which Xander replied he doesn't want to breath down her neck. Another shot to the Solar Plexus. That one got Gwen reeling.
As it played out Gwen started to drown and by the time, he left she was throwing things in anger. Her cool act was nothing but a charade. I think she knows damn well Alex probably doesn't care a lick about her other than the sexual favors and the stark truth is killing her.
Xander is right. Chances are very good Alex is just using Gwen and there will be no burgeoning love affair. Just a cold emotionless sexual encounter. Xander knows Gwen all too well. She isn't suited for one-night stands. Unlike say Steph and Allie, who have their own problems, Gwen is on another level of being emotionally disturbed. Too fragile by a mile.
So, one might construe Xander's warning to Alex is born out of jealousy, and there might be some, but oddly I think it has more to do with protecting Gwen from herself.
It is funny but gallantry came up in the testy Xander/Alex encounter. And to me the roughie doesn't know any other way to settle what he sees as a predator taking advantage of a damaged soul. In my mind Xander is gallant for looking out for Gwen even though Gwen doesn't see it that way. At least not yet. That is my take.
For the record I am in no mood to see these two duke it out.
It is ludicrous to think two men are fighting over Gwen of all people and it looks that way on the surface. But in reality, it is one guy fighting for the sex and the other fighting to protect her from hurting herself.

I can understand Xander being protective, especially because he feels responsible for Gwen's state of mind. But he's not responsible for her. She can be with who she wants to be with and it's no longer any business of Xander's.
And her treatment of Xander is uncalled for. He was trying to be honest with her and himself. She always knew that Sarah had the lion's share of his heart. So don't go acting all sanctimonious now that it's over (please let it be over!).
P.S.: Loved the Philip mentions!

I thought Xander was kind of a jerk. He hated that Gwen slept with Alex directly after their breakup, which I get, but he basically said that was another thing that made her not as good as Sarah. But Sarah jumped into bed with Rex the moment she dumped Xander, and Xander slept with a married Nicole the first time Sarah left him. So
