Jennifer writes an announcement for the Spectator about Abigail's death. All of Salem reads it. Jennifer lists Gwen as Abigail's half-sister. Gwen calls Jack, knowing today is Abigail's funeral, offering her sympathies and saying that Jennifer did a beautiful job in the Spectator. Upon hearing that, JJ responds, "That bitch can take her fake sympathy and shove it." JJ runs down all of the horrible things Gwen did to Abigail. He says Gwen is "probably doing a happy dance in her cell." Jack can't take it and leaves. JJ apologizes to Jennifer for blowing up. Jennifer says Jack had hoped Gwen and Abigail could have made peace so he could have both his daughters in his life. JJ points out they still have him. Jennifer tells JJ she'll support Jack no matter what relationship he wants with Gwen, but she'll never trust Gwen. But she understands that Jack will never stop loving his child. JJ says he came close to making Jennifer stop loving him. Jennifer assures him that he never even came close.
Jennifer can't find the heart pendant necklace that Abigail had given her as a gift. She wanted to wear it to the funeral.
Jack returns home. JJ apologizes, but Jack says he has every right to his feelings about Gwen. JJ says he's not angry at Gwen. He's angry about Abigail, and he misses her. Jack says he does too and hugs his son.
Just before they leave for the funeral, Jennifer finds the heart pendant necklace that Abigail had given her.

The actress playing Jen (sorry, can’t remember her name) is good and I am okay with her now but I really would have liked seeing Melissa’s Jen in these scenes with JJ. I know it’s not Days’ fault. Some actors can’t or won’t make it for everything and they work with what they’ve got but I just couldn’t help thinking I miss Melissa Reeves’ Jen.
It’s nice to see JJ. I haven’t watched a lot lately so this was the first time I saw him.

I loved JJ going off about Gwen with the fake sympathy shove it line. Someone had to say it for Heaven's sake.

I was pretty disappointed in both Jack and Jennifer today.
The person who spent lots of time trying to kill her (even up to the moment she actually was killed) and may have actually killed her also should not rate so much discussion at her funeral. I don't care whose daughter she is.
JJ was absolutely correct in his assessment of Gwen and should not have apologized to his weak joke of a father. Gwen, if she were truly sincere in her "condolences" should have just kept quiet and let Abigail's family mourn her without any input from her. No one needs or wants her condolences, and she knows it, but she's a narcissist who still can't stand that anything be focused on Abigail and not her. She has to direct their attention and focus back to her, and dumb Jack and fake Jen fall for it every time. The two of them were WAY too focused on Gwen for my taste. CM's Jennifer reverts to being nothing but a Jack cheerleader and he continues to look a fool in service of propping the retcon. There should have been NO mention of Gwen at all on this day. How convenient it is for her that she can act all magnanimous and selfless about Abigail when she now doesn't have to do any actual work or many any real effort to not be a murderous, heinous, bitch to her. She can just pretend that she would have if Abby hadn't died, and Jack is more than willing to live and let her live in that same fantasy. He is SUCH a disappointment.
Putting Gwen in Abby's obituary? Really, Jen? Is that what ABIGAIL would have wanted? The person who LITERALLY tried to destroy her multiple times listed alongside her kids and actual family and friends? Nope, she was just catering to stupid Jack. I was wondering before why the kids couldn't be with them instead of John and Marlena, but I'm now glad they aren't with their grandparents. Jack would probably pack them up for a visit to the prison so Gwen could feel good about herself and he could pretend that all was just peachy. And Jennifer would just tag along as "support."
Jack Deveraux, Jr is the only Jack Deveraux that is acting like how any Jack Deveraux should behave. The elder Jack can f-off.

I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but thank goodness JJ is saying what so many of us think regarding Gwen. Stop making her the focus. Get her out of here.

I was proud of JJ for speaking up and I was glad that he was himself. The last few times he's visited, the writers felt compelled to write him as this blah character that wasn't his right personality.
I liked what Jennifer said about how JJ couldn't have ever stopped her from loving him, but I didn't like Cady's delivery. I was distracted thinking about how much less dramatic Missy Reeves would have been.
Also, was Jack really going to avoid JJ because of what he said about Gwen? That seemed ridiculous.

I was distracted thinking about how much less dramatic Missy Reeves would have been. Not a Cady fan at all. It would have been so much more emotional if Melissa was playing Jennifer. Disappointing. I find that Cady overacts. Like the robotic way she looked when she held out the necklace at the end. She looked like a Stepford wife. Too self-conscious and unrealistic.

I didn't like Gwen being listed as a family member in the obituary. She never treated Abby as a sister.
I'm glad JJ voiced the truth about Gwen. Her condolence was only to look good to Jack.
