To quote George Costanza "worlds are colliding" and this might be the case with Days the next week and a half. The January 6th hearings start tonight but on Monday the 13th, the 15th,16th and Tuesday the following week, NBC will probably choose to televise it and it starts on 10 AM EST on those four days which mean Days will not be seen "live."
I do know Days is prepping for HUGE storylines and (one can't avoid some of this stuff) they could start as soon as next week.
If NBC doesn't televise the hearings, then Days will be on. But if they do interrupt the show Days has two choices. One is the right thing to do. The other is a pure horror which sort of mimics the direction Days appears to be heading with the show's tone of late.
The correct thing for Days to do is to NOT proceed with the shows on the days that are interrupted. In other words, if NBC televises the hearings on any given morning/afternoon then Days should simply withhold the show until the next day NBC has an open slot.
But Days has a habit of plodding forward no matter what which means there would be only two ways to catch up with the show. Generally, Peacock will show it that night, but some people don't have access to that and others like myself don't want to bother with Peacock for reasons I need not go into now. And of course, you can't record it--you would end up recording the hearings.
Which means I and others (albeit some fans don't even have access to On Demand) will have to rely on On Demand for a replay which by the way could take up to several days to air. That would be one way to keep this blabbermouth from riffing on the show. Ha. But since I refuse to watch shows out of order it could take a week or two to set things right. And like I said next week could be a big week.
Days would make life easy for everyone if they just saved the shows for the four days the hearings take place. There is a small possibility NBC won't air the hearings, but I doubt it.
If NBC screws this up I especially feel bad for older viewers who don't have all the bells and whistles that would enable them to watch the shows later.
