Mad Men Earns 17 Emmy Nominations, Including Best Drama, Writing, Actor & ActressThe Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and Mad Men received 17 nominations -- making it the most nominated basic cable drama of all time with a record total of 85 nominations. The series was nominated in categories including Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Actor (Jon Hamm), Outstanding Actress (Elisabeth Moss), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Jared Harris), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Christina Hendricks) and Outstanding Writing (Matthew Weiner).
AMC received a total of 34 nominations. In addition to Mad Men, Breaking Bad was honored in 13 categories including Outstanding Drama, The Walking Dead received nods in 3 categories like Outstanding Special Visual Effects and Hell on Wheels earned a nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.
