Saw this question on twitter. Which of your favorite Days characters did the writers insult most? What were the circumstances?
I'll start.
Turning Chloe into a prostitute. That whole thing made me cringe whenever she had to interact with a john. It was not entertaining at all.

Turning JJ into a cop with no personality. They totally ruined his character and it was obvious the writers just hated him.

I think the writers have definitely screwed over Philip. They did it in the past by constantly making him the loser in love, which to me, is ridiculous. He's a handsome, successful guy who served his country. He was a jerk in high school but he changed and I think he would be a catch. They treat him like he's some pathetic unlovable loser.
They did it when he was younger and they're kind of doing it now. It seems like the MIGHT be letting him turn a corner here with getting over the anger issues but we'll see.
I also actually think they screwed over Gabi. I think she had potential as a character after she killed Nick and did it for arguably, understandable reasons. They've turned her into a nasty, unlikable person (at least for me) who does things like threaten to kill old ladies and screwing over people like Philip who are nothing but good to her. She could have been better.

She sneers at everyone and ultimately proves all the things Julie says about her right.

They ruined hope when they gave her one wrong pairing after another Chloe was another I once loved Brady and Eric and I now can’t stand the sight of them and I don’t feel an explanation is needed there
Kayla was hard for me when Steve was raped

Anjelica Deveraux. When Jane Elliott played this character she was flawed but very smart. She was married to a Senator (who turned out to be a serial killer) and was Jack's step-mother with whom they had a slightly odd but close relationship. When they brought Morgan Fairchild in as Anjelica, she was a silly caricature. It was incredibly disappointing.
Similarly, Diana Colville. When Genie Francis played the role, I LOVED Diana. She worked with Jack at The Spectator, went up against Victor, and was involved in a lot of intrigue. She was romantically paired with Roman (aka John), and she lit up the screen. When they recast her with Judith Chapman decades later, it's as though it could have been a completely different character. A woman who loved fiercely and fought for justice was turned into a villain and con artist who had allowed her own son to be abused. As a fan of the original character, it was horrible to watch.

I loved, LOVED Diana too! That's horrible what they did and I'm glad I haven't seen that part of her story.

For current characters, I agree with Chloe and Philip (above).
I'll also throw in Justin.
He was once smart, savvy, and won every case as a lawyer. Now he's the losing lawyer, and a joke. Additionally, they paired him with Bonnie. Just ick on so many levels.

Aiden Jennings and his son Chase. I liked Aiden with Hope. That would have been really good. As for Chase, I still can't figure out why they ruined him and then flushed the stupid story down the drain, never to be mentioned again.

I actually want to add Ciara to this list as well She’s not at all what I expected bo and hopes daughter to be Her child character was perfect but the very minute they aged her she became unwatchable I’m disappointed in what they’ve done with Shawn as well He’s barely on screen and when he is it’s to prop other characters He’s bos son and working at the SPD I feel a lot of wasted potential for bo and hopes kids

Julie - she was aged too quickly by giving her a grown son and then a grandson before she was 35 or 40.

Aiden! Yes definitely. He's the only one besides Bo that I liked for Hope and they completed destroyed him and his son. Chase had the potential to be an interesting and complicated character, especially considering that he accidentally shot his mom and doesn't know it. Sad waste of a couple of characters.

I could have done without chase raping Ciara story As for Aiden I’m glad he was “ruined” he ruined hope I was never a fan like most people were so I was delighted to see him gone and basically forgotten about Chase could have had a better story for sure but all hopes of it are gone now that he did what he did

The writers definitely did wrong by Sarah and Xander. They had one of the best relationships on the show, and instead of letting them finally get married and have the life they had worked so hard to have together, the writers broke them up in the most unbelievable way possible. I know Linsey Godfrey was leaving the show, but still. There had to be a better way to write her out than to have Kristen hold her prisoner, don a Sarah mask in order to destroy her relationship with Xander, and then ship her off to a deserted island. The writers could have given us fans the wedding we were hoping for and then had Sarah go help Maggie with Summer or something. Honestly, anything would have been better than what we got!
