As we’re all getting to know our way around the site, I thought I’d let you in on a couple things I have learned. Adjusting the TimeFirst of all, now that we’re on daylight savings time, if your site isn’t showing the time correctly, you can adjust it to your location. Click on “Profile” which is one of the black buttons toward the top of the site. When you are in your profile, click on the words that say “Modify Profile.” Then scroll down to the section that says “Dates and Times.” The last drop-down menu says “Currently Observing DST" (Daylight Savings Time). Change it to “Yes.” Then scroll to the bottom of the site. At the bottom LEFT is a button that says “Modify Profile.” Click that button and it should change the time for you. ***** Changing Your Name DisplayI notice that most posters have their name in lowercase (including me), which is the default. You can change your screen so it appears the way you want, be it all upper case, or partly upper case, or even has a space between words. Go to Modify Profile. In the top section where it says “Account Information,” the last entry is Display Name. You can retype your name the way you want it to display. Then scroll down and click the “Modify Profile” button at the bottom left. ***** There are a whole slew of “How To’s” in the “About Us” section of the board. myhourglass.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=explanationsIf you have questions, let us know or post them in this thread: myhourglass.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aboutus&action=display&thread=112&page=1

Just an additional note, if you change your user screen name, you will still need to log in under the name you first registered with. For example, if you registered at the site using "jdoe" and then change your screen name to "Jane Doe", your profile page and all of your posts will read as "Jane Doe". However, when you log in to the site, you will still need to type in "jdoe" as your ID Name.

Reading "New" Posts
There is a blue "new" button to the left of thread names with posts you haven't read yet. By clicking on the word "new," you are taken right to the unread posts instead of being taken to the top of the thread or the top of the page.
Quick Replies
There's a handy Quick Reply box at the bottom of every thread that makes it real easy and quick to post. It saves you a click too.

I wondered about the new button. I have often thought that's not a new thread...why does it say new. Thanks for the info.

I have always used the quick reply but the new button is amazing. I thought is just denoted a new thread. I didn't realize it was clickable!!

The new button is really speeding things up for me! At a glance I can see which threads I need to check out.
